Hello all. I am new to the forum and have been reading through looking for suggestions. I found the following system at ac4l.com and had a few questions.
http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/ONKHTS9400/Onkyo-HT-S9400-THX-7.1-Ch-Network-Home-Theater-Receiver/Speaker/1.html
1. Is this a pretty good system for the money? My room is about 20 x 20. I watch mostly sports and movies and like to listen to music. I currently have a Sony HTIB system in there, but it is old and no HDMI so I am moving it to another room.
2. Are there some aftermarket brackets I could use to mount these speakers in the wall? I would assume I could take the speakers out of the box.
3. I looked at the specs but did not see if this system could support a second zone. I have two speakers wired out to my pool. I think this can also support the app to control the receiver from Onkyo.
4. I think for $599 this appears to be a pretty good system. If anyone has another suggestion that may be better I am all ears as I know there are some very well versed folks on here.
5. Since this is a refurb should I get the extended warranty?
Thanks for the help!
Eric

I think that's an excellent system for the money. That said it may be a little small for such a large room. But to fill that room correctly, you're looking at 4-5x that price. You may be able to get away with just adding a 2nd subwoofer later on. (You can do this by just splitting the sub signal, it's painless.)
You definitely do not want to take the speakers out of its enclosure. Speakers are made to perform correctly as built, removing the enclosure will surely seriously degrade the performance. If you want in-wall speakers you should purchase speakers made for that purpose. Of coiurse, they are generally more expensive at each quality level.
I'm uncomforatable with refurb, so I'd get the warranty. Many forum members are very comfortable purchasing from a4l, so that's just me.
