Can some people still see post counts then? I don't see them at all at the moment. I can't say it bothers me, and it stops the silly 'x000 posts frenzy' threads, but I did think it curious.

I think he's not referring to an individual's post count but rather to the THREAD's post count; eg, "Post (#4 of 4 posts)" above your name.
