I'm trying to hook up a Mita S-VHS vcr and a Dish set top box to my Integra 9.1 receiver. The Dish box only has 1 S-video output, as well as composite video output.

Should I just hook up the Dish's composite video out to the Mits VCR's input, and the Dish's S-output to my Integra? Is it important that the vcr get an s-video rather than a composite input?

Another thing I could do is run the S-video from the Dish into the rec., then send an S-video out to the VCR's S-video input. Would this mean leaving the receiver on if I wanted to tape something?

Thnaks for any help!!!

In my opinion it is better to run your cables to receiver and have your receiver on when recording because you will be sacrificing video quality by using composite video cables. The reason to get an S-VHS VCR is for the better quality of S-Video so why not use it?
