I own the InFocus SP5000, a 720p projector. I also own the Sony PDP-300. My Infocus has a M1 (some version of DVI). I bought the HDMI to M1 DVI adaptor. I plugged it in. My blu-ray player froze. I couldn't do anything, not even turn it off. It just stayed frozen in my setup menu. I unplugged it, went back to the Components, and it worked fine. I plugged the HDMI cable in again...it froze, again. Has anyone else experienced this?

I've heard that adapters can be problems.
Have you tried an HDMI to M1 cable? See here: http://www.hdtvsupply.com/m1tohdcathm1.html

See here also: http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10238
Scroll down to the HDMI / M1 Cables section, for different lengths.

Possibly related is that current players and receivers will refuse to do any audio or video output over HDMI to a display device which does not support HDCP copy protection. Composite and component video and RCA and optical audio connections don't have that problem.
