Hi, everyone. I'm looking for some great movies that really make you care about the characters, especially but not exclusively movies that leave you with a good feeling. One that really stands out in my mind is Almost Famous. I love that movie and its characters. "Popcorn movies" are fine, but IMHO, what makes a movie great is its ability to make you feel some kind of emotion for the characters it is presenting to you. Thanks for any posts!

If you can't feel for Peter O'Toole's characterization of Alan Swann, you need to drink more.

Philadelphia, Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington are top notch. This is one of my favorite movies. I almost cried at the end.

I just finished watching "Amores Perros" again, and I can definitely say that I cared about the characters in this film. You can just feel the emotion in every scene, and a few scenes almost brought me to tears. Almost. ;)

There are obviously many, but the one that really jumps out is The Best Years of Our Lives.

The movie has no sex or violence, no cliff hangers, no catchy sound track, no clever plot twist, no breath taking production/scenery, in other words, it's all about the characters that made it worked with little distraction, I am sure everybody that've seen it will agree.
