I have a Hitachi 51" widescreen. Contrast is set to 36% and I try not to watch too many 2:35-1 widescreen movies, but when watching a network HDTV broadcast, the program is widescreen and all the commercials are not, so I get sidebands during the commercials. I can zoom in during the commercials to eliminate the bands, then out again during the program, but I would have to do this a lot and am wondering if this is harmful to TV. Am I being paranoid? Burn-in really scares me. Thanks, Larry

Greetings

I have never seen burn in on any RPTV that has been properly set up ... caused by watching w/s DVD's.

4:3 burn in from HD material ... yes ... same as if watching in the TV's native 4:3 mode.

Watch SD material via the SD inputs on the TV. Simple as that. Everything else is rather incidental.

Regards
