Following our item specifying the company’s latest Uni-Core subwoofer technology last week, KEF has announced the launch of a new KC62 subwoofer with the same space-saving technology onboard. Retailing for $1,499, the new sub measures 9.68 x 10.07 x 9.76 inches and weighs in at just 31 lbs. The company promises the unit will deliver “unprecedented performance” and the twin drivers inside are powered by 1000W RMS (2 x 500W) of Class D amplification.
KEF says the concentrically designed voice coils and single motor system allow the KC62 to be housed in a cabinet reduced by more than a third in size of other typical subwoofers. There are two other technologies inside the unit, the first of which is ‘P-Flex Surround’, a pleated driver surround which resists acoustic pressure inside the cabinet and allows it to move with greater excursion.
