Stranded On A Desert Island
Brian Dobbs and Sam Posten are joined by reviewers and owners from HTF to discuss which movies they would bring with them while stranded on a desert island. This discussion took place during the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic, of which most people were isolated more than ever, and thus inspired the episode. Special guests include Neill Middlemiss, Todd Erwin, Dave Upton, Josh Steinberg, Cameron Yee, and Adam Gregorich.

AWESOME! It's our biggest episode ever, pack a lunch!

Here's where you guys come in: Post the (movies, TV shows, video games, books, smoke signals) that are keeping you sane during pandemic! We kept our list to 3 each but there is no limit here. =)

Also, what is your idea of what a desert island experience would be like? Luxury? Gilligan's island? Cast Away? Your basement as it exists now?

And if you could only take one franchise with you to the island, what would it be???

We will definitely be doing more guests in the future. =)

First of all, my desert island has a Four Seasons Resort. Michelin rated restaurant. I have a just opened bottle of Park Cognac. It’s not storm season. I’ve got a HT in my room (don’t need those pesky ocean wave sounds interfering with my Dolby Atmos. 75” OLED with 3D and a great Atmos System.

I have to have one movie from the 50’s sci/fi-monster flicks. I’ll make that:
The Thing
This was tough as there are several movies from that era I’d like to watch. Them, BF 20K Fathoms, CFTBL, Forbidden Planet.

There’s gotta be a great Dinosaur flick in 3D. I’ll go with:
Jurassic World
That was a though choice, I wanted to pick JW 2 but the fight at the end with the Indominus Rex tilted the scale.

Gotta have a comedy. It’s a tough choice as I love Liar, Liar. Jim Carrey has never been funnier. But I’m going with
Grumpy Old Men.
3 old pros, Walter Matheau, Jack Lemmon, and Ann Margaret, she warms up my corpuscles. The scene with Lemmon in his kitchen the morning after the night before is comedy Gold. The closing credit scenes among the best you’ll see.

Ha! I think after listening to the entirety of the podcast, Brian and I have more overlap in favorites than disagreements. For example, he seems to favor Zemeckis films with his mentions of Cast Away, Contact, and Forrest Gump. I like all those too.

Well, this isn't a value statement. I'm not an example to follow, but I suspect Brian and I have about as much movie crossover as Sam and I do.

...but I need to listen to the podcast. I do like Contact.

Jeez, I just noticed the Spoilers podcast, which I haven’t listened to. I am subscribed, but don’t recall receiving a notice on that one. Still, on my walk, I’ll start the dessert island episode. When you guys went to the island, did you see Giligan or better Ginger or Mary Ann? :P
