I'd gather up the kids, fire up some popcorn and leftover pie, and commence a Pixar marathon! "Wall-E", "Up", and the "Toy Story" trilogy. Now that's living!

If I were to win an Epson HC 8700 my family and I would watch the Saints beat the Cowboys on National television and then we would watch the 2009 version of "A Christmas Carol" so that my Godson (7) and my Grandchildren (2 & 3) could begin to get into the Christmas Spirit. (yes I'm 39 and have grandchildren )

My 12 year old is waiting for me to get a HT Projector so he can play XBOX 360-which I am yet to buy. If I won this projector, I'd definitely watch the Macy's thanksgiving day parade on 110' screen and play XBOX 360 there after.

Also there have been many movies that I have not watched simply because I have been waiting to watch them on a bigger screen, that'd include Taking of Pelham, some bollywood movies and some movies I have already watched like Fast & Furious (all), Transporter (all), Transformers (all) and Casino Royale. I would definitely watch some of the movies after my son plays XBOX to his hearts' contents and invite few other close families over to watch these movies.

I think it'd be real fun to scramble many people in basement with no chairs or place to sit for everyone... Just imagining people lying on floor, kids playing around and projector going on with new monitor audios blasting...

A long time ago

10 years

In a galaxy far far way

Single life

I had a 65” RPTV, Integra receiver and surround sound. Then I found a girl, fell in love and married her. Since then what girl wants girl gets.

First girl wants new car, gets.

Then girl wants new baby, gets.

Then girl wants new home, gets.

Then girl wants another new baby, gets.

Then girl wants another new car that can haul new babies and their stuff, gets.

Two years ago I let girl know its dads turn at the getting and started to build a man cave in the basement.

First dad gets lumber, wiring, insulation, sheetrock, paint and carpet.

Then dad gets 7.1 speakers.

Then dad gets new receiver.

Then dad gets new blue ray player.

Then dad orders new Stewart screen.

If dad is lucky he could be watching football when he can get away as the food is being prepared I’m in charge of the turkey, and then eat with the family, extended family and some friends. After the great meal made by the wife (I think we can refer to her as the wife now) and some time to waddle down to the man cave we will all watch Polar Express. Then after the kids are in bed and the family and friends have gone home the wife and I can watch some none kiddy movies; star wars, star trek, Matrix, Lord of the rings, Gladiator etc. It is a long weekend after all.

But this can only happen on Thanksgiving weekend if dad gets lucky (were still talking about the Epson projector).

If I were lucky enough to win the new projector, I would like to take it down to the local Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children in Erie, Pa. to let them watch some favorite movies such as Toy Story 3 or any of their favorite Christmas/Holiday shows.on Blu-Ray. Can you imagine the joy and smiles this would bring on these children's faces who are going through very difficult times in the hospital!! What better holiday joy can there be? If they have the available space, I would donate the projector and help set up a permanent theater room for them. These children need all the joy they can get.

My home theater, I can assure you, is like no other. See, it's not actually a home theater, it's a barn theater! It all started a few years ago when someone gave me an old projection TV that wasn't quite good enough to put in the house, so I put it in the barn and threw a couple couches in front of it. Then I got a very old projector at a yard sale. Now I am working on moving the theater to a new area (still a barn!) that's smaller and will be dedicated to just the theater. In fact it was finding out about this contest that has motivated me to finish it. Over the last few days, I've been working non stop on it; namely removing tons of dirt and putting a new stepped floor in it (stadium seating!).

My old home theater area has quite a story to it as well. Many people have come over on several occasions to all night movie nights during the summer. The only projector I have right now is an over 15 year old Sharp XG-H440U from 1994 (I really need a new projector!) projecting on an old, square aspect Da-Lite projection screen! It weighs 23 pounds and has a 100:1 contrast ratio!! It is certainly a monster as it has survived through dust, heat, and being moved a lot but still works.

It would be great to have a very nice projector such as the Epson to top off this project. It certainly would add quite a kick to the movie nights! And Thanksgiving would be a very nice time for this, too, as several of my friends who have gone off to college will be coming back for Thanksgiving and it sure would an awesome surprise for them. One of those friends is someone who has seen soooo many grindhouse and B-side movies and who is going to school for filmmaking but has NEVER SEEN THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION!!! It's unbelievable. So we would definitely watch that. Besides that, we sometimes make films together for fun and he is getting a very good HD movie camera and it would be awesome to have a good projector to show them on.

So! What would we watch on Thanksgiving night? Well, Charlie Brown Thanksgiving of course, for one thing! Then most definitely some all time favorite movies such as Titanic! New movies like Avatar? Pffff! doubt it! After Titanic we would spend all night watching classics and many great B list horror movies such as the Evil Dead (during which, one time, our old projection TV half broke on us and it actually made the film better!). Basically we'd be watching movies well into the next day and possibly even the next night. We'd definitely take a lot of pictures and probably even be inspired to make a movie ourselves based on one we watch as we have done before. Honestly, we'd probably be watching movies until we passed out in our spots!

Yes, my theater really is in a barn and in the process of moving from one barn to another. I know this must sound like a very unique project, and much unlike any other you've probably seen or heard of, and winning this projector would definitely be an unmatched aspect of the entire thing. I really must stress one thing I always notice about many home theater setups, and that is that while they may look more contemporary and sophisticated, they are usually in a bright, multi use room and have at most a couple couches. My theater would be absolutely dark, dedicated, and make a projector with such a good black level really shine to its absolute fullest. Having been searching for a projector for quite a while but not wanting to spend any large amount of money, it almost seemed destine when I found out about this contest. And this is one of the models I had been looking into! I really think seeing a movie like Titanic on this projector as if it were in the theater again with a good setup would be just fantastic, honestly. I know that all of the people who have been loyal to "The Barn Theater" as we have come to call it who have stuck through two projection TV's and a 15 year old projector would be breath taken by this projector and the new, very much improved theater it would go in.

If you look at my post count you'll realize that I don't seem to be an avid HT enthusiast, I haven't been into it for very long, and I couldn't tell an honest sob story to beg for it, but if I win there is going to be one heck of a Home Theater in Barn and some very interesting follow up pictures as well! There definitely would be no comparison to the before and after pictures. Most projects start out as a vision of what the best outcome would be and get scaled back as they go along. Not mine. I started with a dusty old henhouse and went up and up as I worked on it and am still going up. This projector would actually motivate me to make investments to make my theater not only dedicated, but actually well above average. To conclude, while I may not be the most creative writer, I'll bet I have the most creative and innovative HT of them all! And what's all this stuff about finishing basements and semi dedicated living rooms? My home theater is in a barn! Top that!

Every year at Thanksgiving, I break out the DVDs that I produced of my children growing up and go through them. I start with the earliest ones, and then continue on until I get to the ones from this year. It is amazing to see how the kids are growing, and also how my movie editing and producing is changing through the years. These homemade DVDs is what I would be watching on the new projector.

For some reason, the kids never seem to remember their early films, even though we watched them the year before. I keep getting questions like “That baby is so cute – wasn’t I cute as a baby”. Well, that was your brother, but yes, you were cute as well and will be coming up in the next film.

I have been blessed with a loving wife and three lovely children. I have also been blessed with a hobby that captures precious moments of time and lets me express my creativity and love for my family.

There are more deserving people who should win this awesome projector over me. But..if I were to win I would have that much more motivation to finish my basement into an awesome home theater room that I have been dreaming of for years. Obviously I could not watch it in a finished room by thanksgiving, but I could enjoy watching movies with my 2 year old son. Who knows....maybe it would motivate my wife into wanting to help me with the basement. :) A guy can dream.

The first thing I would do if I won this projector is set it up in my basement for my brother-in-law. He loves to watch movies and play video games but rarely gets too due to his eye sight. When he was 11 years old his father wrecked a four wheeler that he was on with him and cost him his eye sight. He was flown to a hospital where he went through several extensive surgery's on his face and eyes. He is now 20 years old. He is legally blind with out any chance of ever regaining his eyesight. He is completely blind in his left eye and 65% blind in his right. He never got the chance to play sports or even drive to school. He loves to watch movies but never wants to go to the movie cinema because he has to set so close to the screen and look straight up. Half of the time he won't even watch movies with the rest of us at the house because he has to set so close to the TV to see it. In our current situation we can not afford to buy a bigger TV or a projector as we are saving up $6000 to take him to Indianapolis, Indiana to see a specialist at a bi-optic driving school to give him the chance at getting his license. Naturally he will not be able to drive during the night or without supervision. But it means the world to him and I really want to do whatever it takes to make him happy. He has never been able to get a job mostly because of his eyesight but also because me and my wife work 12hr shifts on midnights and just don't have the time. With the accident and all of the stuff the kid had to miss growing up and being in special classes (due to his eyesight) he has developed severe depression. This projector is not a necessity by any means but it would make him the happiest young man I know. I can only compare it too how most of us when we got our first car/truck felt. Mine was an old 1986 F250, it got 10mpg and flooded constantly but I thought it was the greatest thing ever.

So to make a long story short. If I won this projector I would set it up in my basement and have an all night marathon of Indiana Jones (his favorite movie series) with the rest of the family.

Thank you for your time, Stephen.

I have a group of kids for whom I'm a Coach...It's First Lego League Robotics. We would use the projector to watch FLL videos , practice our presentations , and do other projects to enhance skills in science and mathematics. After all the serious fun , we would do something that was only for relaxation--Like watch a great movie in HD quality.

I will not celebrate Thanksgiving as you all do because I live in China. My Thanksgivings are usually celebrated on Saturdays and Sundays, though this year I am fortunate in that my school has given me the day off. I often use my small home as an entertainment source for both my expat friends and my Chinese students to come, relax, talk and enjoy themselves. If I won this projector I would replace my 24" lcd monitor now and use it to provide a piece of home for my epat friends by inviting them over for dinners or movie nights. This is especially important during the holidays, when homesickness sets in on most of us. I would also use this on my movie nights for my students http://www.sandau.edu.cn/OldSite/english/. Movie nights serve two purposes. The first is to help motivate my students to improve their English. The second is to help them understand western culture. No, the movies do not usually portray the "average" western man or women but our conversations after the movies help my students understand that the "average" western man or woman is not a sex maniac that spends his/her whole time raising children with the intent of kicking them out of their home when the child reaches 18 years old, and then dumping their aging parents in a "death hotel" when they get old so that they don't have to bother with the parents and can enjoy their carefree life. It is really sad but this is the kind of image that most Chinese people have of westerners. I would also use the projector in my classroom on select days to introduce clips of movies and tv programs to the students to help motivate the students to "open their mouths" and speak. Finally, I would take the projector with me on my trips to an orpanage in Fuzhou where I do some volunteer work a few times a year. http://www.livinghopeintl.org/ I do a variety of tasks there, including teaching children how to cook and makes crafts with them but my personal objective is to help make memorable "family" experiences with them, to help them do things that will give them happy memories to look back on and so that they can have a greater sense of being a family.

I LOST MY HUSBAND (SAM) FROM CANCER OF THE ESOPHOGUS IN JULY. HE HAD LOST 80 POUNDS IN 3 MONTHS AND COULD NO LONGER TALK. OUR FAMILY WOULD LOVE TO HAVE THIS PROJECTOR TO BE ABLE TO SEE AND HEAR PREVIOUS VIDEOS OF SAM SO THAT IT WOULD BE MORE LIKE HE WAS HERE FOR THE HOLIDAYS. THANKS FOR THE CHANCE TO WIN.

I just finished my basement project last night. So today I come onto HTF after a few months of being off and I want to look for a new tv recommendation for the basement and I see this wonderful contest and I figure it has to be karma.

So with this new projector I will be watching the football games with my wonderful family in 1080p glory.

Thank you for the opportunity and the gracious projector gift.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I own a home theater installation company and my own TV is a 27" Philips tube TV with lines going across the top 1/3 of screen. I HATE INSTALLING AWESOME HOME THEATERS THEN RETURNING HOME TO MY BROKEN PIECE OF JUNK!!

The first thing I'd watch is the new Star Trek movie. I bought the Blu-ray disc as a demo for my customers, but refuse to watch it at home until I have my own HDTV.

No sob story or story to try and tear at your heartstrings to get a projector here....Sorry but I find that passe and manipulative. If I won this projector I would have a Wizard Of Oz/Sound Of Music in HI DEF party at my apartment and invite any kid or adult in my complex who wants to see it in all its technicolor glory. Now with the advantage of Hi-Definition, what a better way to see these two newly restored classics. The look of amazement in the people's faces as they experience these gems as if for the first time just really gets me turns me on.What a thrill to see every freckle, costume thread and make up artistry as it was meant to be seen....That is all.

Well,

If I won this Epson projector I would donate it to my good friend Pastor Gary Chupik who recently started a new church in Woodinville WA area called Emmaus Church. http://www.emmausnw.org for details! The church meets in the Woodinville Movie Theatres each Sunday morning for services. At the Woodinville theatres, 1 theatre is dedicated for the church body and another theatre is dedicated to the childrens ministry.

Emmaus was already donated a projector about 1 year back for the regular church use at the facilities. it runs the song lyrics, the sermon message and powerpoint and stuff like that. I know this because I run the powerpoint show each week at the church. However I feel that it would be a HUGE benefit to the childrens ministry if they had a proector in the childrens theatre so that bible story DVD's and such could be shown to the younger growd to teach them about Jesus and the stories in the bible.

Anyways, thats my goal and if you feel that Christ leads you to donate the projector to the work of the Lord, please let me know.
