From an audio standpoint, I'm not too far behing technology but video is a "horse of another color". I resisted digital cameras for years and finally was forced into it. I loved my darkroom and doing B&W and color work. After I finally decided to buy one I got a Nikon D200 and eventually ended up with half a dozen lens. I never looked back.
It was great to see what you just shot and not concerened about "how they came out" as in the day with film. I still miss it some but have moved on.
