I'm in the market for a new HDTV projector. At first I thought I would get a Sony 51" but after doing some measuring, I barely have enough room to drag that down to the basement thru the stairs.

Then I found out Hitachi and Toshiba offers split cabinet designs and this will fit my needs. And since Toshiba although nice, doesn't support 720p. Hitachi does but via something call Virtua HD.

My question is, anyone here has experience with Hitachi HDTV? How's is this Virtua HD work? Is this a good choice?

Greetings

The Hitachi just converts the 720p signal to 1080i. That's all. Some of the Toshiba sets do the same ... regardless of what glitzy name they give it.

If I'm remembering correctly, the only model with the split cabinet design in the Hitachi SWX series is the 65SWX20B. The 57" does not.
