I recently purchased this unit from a small electronics
store.
I Paid $325.00 and the dealer thru in the component
video cable along with the digital coax cable.
The video chip set was manufactured by ESS; the
audio dac; Crystal.
The picture quality is outstanding and it's hard
beat the Marantz sound IMHO.
Anyone else out there with an opinion on this
player or is a Marantz player off everyone's
radar screen?

I have the DV4200.....I think the main difference between the 4300 and 4200 is the progressive scan on the 4300.

My 4200 has good picture and sound, as one would expect from a Marantz; It's good for the price.

When I called Marantz they indicated the 4300 is a
completely re-designed unit.
It is a slim-line version and as you indicated has
progressive scan.
Right now I do not use the progressive scan electing
instead to use Cinemotion on the40XBR800.
Great picture! :)

I own a DV-4300 player and am very pleased with its Video and 2 channel audio quality.

Having been a Toshiba DVD owner for so many years, the Marantz was defintely better in terms of build construction (like a brick ----house)and overall CD & 2CH Hi Res DVD Audio.

Prog scan was also a welcome addition. I do not miss SACD or multi channel DVD Audio (my PC has an Audigy 2 Soundblaster card which will be wired to my hometheater one day).

This will be my last DVD Player (I promised my wife). Best off all, it plays DVD + R (Toshiba does not, Samsung does - but their P421 player sucks).

Enjoy Denny
