Alienware HTPC (DHS 5)
I paid a small fortune (~$3k)for the baby approximately 3 years ago (purchased in Dec 2004). I ordered it directly from Alienware, and I am the one and only owner if this HTPC. It is in excellent/great condition and has a few upgrades that I have installed myself making it an even better machine. This was used in my Home Theater as a video/music/movie box primarily...I also used it to surf the web on my projection screen from time to time as well.
You wouldn't necessarily have to use this in a TV/Home Theater environment, but the case itself is huge...so it definitely works best in those arenas for sure.
Note: One screw on the case cover is stripped, but the case cover easily comes off and the other 3 case screws go in/out without any issues. Case is sealed air-tight, even with the 1 stripped screw.
Specs:
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium (comes w/ original Alienware Windows XP Media Center 2005 discs (image) and I am including the Windows Vista Premium upgrade CD (retail bx) as well.
Processor: 2.2GHz AMD G4 Athlon 3500+ w/ zalman Quiet CPU Cooler Fan attached
RAM: Alienware DDR512 + Alienware DDR512 = 1GB Alienware RAM
Hard Drive(s): (2) Western Digital SATA 250GB HD's = 500GB
Video Card: ATI Radeon X800 PRO (256MB) (DVI, S-Video, & VGA)
Motherboard: Abit AV8
Multi-format DVD-Burner
Sound Card: HDA Digital Mystique 7.1 Gold (AuzenTech) Note: Coaxial connection is broken...Optical and stereo/analog connections all work perfectly.
TV Tuners: Dual TV Tuners (S-Video & Coaxial)
Front ports: USB 2.0 & Firewire
Front Media Card Reader: MS/MS PRO, CF/MD, SD, MRC, XD, SM
Rear ports: Firewire, 4 USB, LAN, SPDIF in/out (built in on motherboard), keyboard, mouse.
Keyboard & Mouse: Including a wired keyboard and mouse from Acer. You'll probably want/need a wireless set if you plan on using this in your living or media room though.
Remote: Windows Media Center Remote from Alienware included
Software: In addition to the Windows Vista Premium upgrade disc (retail box), I'll also be including all of the following software:
Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 (Home Use Program): includes; Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, & InfoPath.
PowerDVD XP
Norton Antivirus 2007 (never installed/registered)
Norton Partition Magic (never installed/registered)
Norton Ghost 10.0 (never installed/registered)
Norton Internet Security 2007 (never installed/registered)
I have all the driver/install CD's for the hardware equipment installed as well (Sound Card, Video Card, etc.) but you'll probably find that there are newer versions available on the web. I have reformatted the disk drives and re-installed a clean copy of Windows Vista Home Premium. It's just like brand new!!!
