Sony’s 4K UHD release of Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within seems like an odd choice for the format, but the results are rather impressive considering what the studio was working with.

I was a big fan of Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. I saw it in the theater, bought the DVD, watched it a couple times and all the bonus materials. For all it’s flaws, I thought it was great scifi.

I’ve been wondering lately if it was on blu-ray or better. But also in the ambivalence borne of more media than time, I don’t know that I want to spend $30 for a 2001 CG movie that will not hold up great 20 years later.
