I'd love to see an unbutchered Mickey's Christmas Carol on this set, but that looks less likely since it's not mentioned in the description posted. *crosses fingers*

I'm hoping for Mickey's Christmas Carol also. I have wanted to see that for the last 15 years. We'll have to wait and see - that description was rather vague and not terribly complete.

I posted this list (courtesy of Ernest Rister) back on page 2:

1939
Society Dog Show
The Pointer

1940
Tugboat Mickey
Mr. Mouse Takes a Trip

1941
The Little Whirlwind
Nifty Nineties
Orphans' Benefit

1942
Mickey's Birthday Party
Symphony Hour

1947
Mickey's Delayed Date

1948
Mickey Down Under
Mickey and the Seal

1951
R'coon Dawg

1952
Pluto's Christmas Tree

1953
The Simple Things

1983
Mickey's Christmas Carol

1990
The Prince and the Pauper

1995
Runaway Brain

That's 18 shorts, but the original press release mentioned 21. The other three "shorts" could very well be The Sorceror's Apprentice, Mickey and the Beanstalk, and another Mickey segment from another longer film.

Wait a minute - didn't the Mickey eyes change to the pupil look of Sorcerer's Apprentice after Fantasia's release in 1940? If so, that disc art features a look for Mickey that barely appears in the actual disc.

Sounds good, although the Donald set seems to be a little light on the extras and the Mickey set is re-using stuff that's been released umpteen times, including on other Treasures sets. I'm just happy to get the 'toons!

What surprises me very much is that there were only 3 or so Mickey shorts made after 1953...

I wasnt born till many, many years after that and it just seems he was in a lot more... Even in the 80's and 90's it just seemed like he was in his own shorts...

Ryan,

The Disney Team found it increasingly difficult to come up with interesting storylines and gags for Mickey. He's just too nice a guy to get into too much trouble. Donald and Goofy were much more succeptible to shenanigans. That's why you don't see but a few Mickey shorts after the early '50s. To be honest, I wouldn't truly count MICKEY'S CHRISTMAS CAROL, as the show belongs to Scrooge McDuck.

Deleted Animation from The Sorcerer's Apprentice
...
"The Making of Mickey's Christmas Carol"
Looks quite likely that both The Sorcerer's Apprentice and Christmas Carol should be on the disc. I do hope so. (At least about Chirstmas Carol)
December 2nd sounds so good right now.

Yes. Mickey's Christmas Carol should be on there. I think it was just left off the list there. I sure hope so anyways. That is a favorite of mine. :)

I read in a post on another DVD site that Disney has launched sort of a Treasures "portal" on their website.

It can be found here

It isn't much more than a grouping of the previously available listings and information, but it's something.

Disney have changed the number of tins for this new lot.

Tomorrowland: 105,000
On The Front Lines: 165,000
Mickey Mouse in Color V2: 165,000
Donald V1: 250,000

Goto the Treasure Portal Page (see link above) and click on order for each title.

They must be expecting Donald to sell well?

:)

Interesting. Surprised to see they have Front Lines on equal par with the Mickey release though.

Who cares. I've got them all on pre-order, so I don't need to worry too much about them selling out.

I only own Silly Symphonies and Disneyland USA... I loved Silly Symphonies, Disneyland USA is fairly interesting, I think I'm going buy the set at costco and buy the next 4 also so I have all of them.

I'll get Donald, and Mickey for sure. I'll probably get tomorrow land as it has some historical significance and one of my history professors is very kean on seeing it.
