Hummmm. It could be a very good comb filter, or the dark, sepa tones in "Unbreakable" is not a great challenge for this comparison. (I'd try my copy, but I loaned it to a friend this week.)
I'd love it if you could re-do the test using a DVD with lots of bright colors and sharp, straight lines like "Toy Story 2" or one of the "Austin Powers" films.
The two things to look for are "dot-crawl" on straight lines, and consistant colors near boundries. Some of the stationary test-patterns & color-bars on AVIA or VE can also be used.
(This is bugging me because I often advise people that the SVideo connection should be a visible improvement. Now I have an exception to watch out for.)
A lot of people love their XBR's. Sony makes some good TV's.
