I have a HDTV with expressvu and am thinking of someday upgrading to the model 6000 hi-def receiver. My current home theater receiver only has the one optical input for my DVD player.Am I out of luck in getting the 5.1 sound from this sat. receiver?

Thanks
Ed

i've never heard of a splitter for digital optical but maybe there's one out there.

as far as someday upgrading to the 6000, you better move quick. this model has been around for a long time and has been replaced with the 6100.

i have a 6000 and i'm pretty happy with it. it does have some limitations though.

no dvi connection and a really slow guide that won't allow you watch a program while you're in it are a couple of them.

You can go here for your optical connections:
http://www.inday.com/tlda1/tlda1.htmIt work great!

The 6000 is an older unit, one I use myself.
Dish Network has come out with the 811 and 921 PVR.
Both units are buggy, and not up to anywhere near their full potential.
See if you can find another HD box that will work with your system, or go on e-bay. You can find a 6000 there fairly cheap, or buy the 6120 for about $585.00 CAD.
