If I'm not mistaken, the Arrow UK release of Pit Stop is region free. So if the US release is cancelled you can pick that version up.

Pit Stop is already available in the UK and is easily imported - region-free to boot.

good to know! I really wouldn't be surprised if the NA release gets scuttled, but who knows? It's more of shame that Olive got the COFFEE, FOXY BROWN and the other blaxploitation films. I would of prefered the Arrow releases with all the extras.

Not only did Arrow, as I mentioned earlier, move their release date of Pit Stop up to a week before the Code Red release, they also dropped their MSRP down to $29.99 (the same as Code Red's MSRP.) So they are clearly trying to get it to market before Code Red gets their release out.

About the blaxploitation films, I can't believe that Kino passed on those films.

In general, it'll be interesting to see if Arrow is able to license US rights from the US studios. 'Cause right now their US stuff is bordering on the fringe. Not that I mind, as a number of their US releases are to my taste, but I don't know how long they can last in the US market without some more mainstream releases.

The new issue of Video Watchdog (issue #180) has an interview with "Arrow Video’s James White and David Mackenzie, who explain restoration, encoding and mastering and discuss the challenges of presenting classic cult films on Blu-ray!" Their website has a preview of the issue (including the first two pages of the Arrow interview) here: http://videowatchdog.com/home/preview2/180.html

I'm still loving the Arrow stuff they've out out so far. The "Black Cats' box was gorgeous, and the "Battles Without Honor or Humanity" set is just as impressive.
