Ok, thanks. The Arrow blu-ray"Features a 2016 4K restoration from the original 35mm negative supervised and approved by William Friedkin", was Friedkin involved in the making of the UHD as well?
Unclear. That same 4K scan was the basis of Arrow's Blu-ray, Shout! Factory's Blu-ray, and this UHD, but I couldn't find anything regarding who supervised the HDR grade. I'm assuming that Friedkin signed off on it, and having to wait for him may be why it took Kino so long to get the disc to market. That's just a guess, though.

Even if Friedkin did sign off on it, we're still talking about something that's many, many miles removed from his grading on the original The French Connection Blu-ray. Again, it's worth noting, but it shouldn't be a deal breaker for anyone. Still a great disc.

Is there a connection between that film and this one??

William Friedkin directed both movies.

I saw this with a friend opening day and the film died. I loved it and remember that week when the NYC and NJ critics destroyed it because of the violence involved. My 4K is on the way and will review on the radio to make up for those critics that were frustrated actors and directors. And the film you may be thinking of with that car chase is la connexion française !
This was the last new Friedkin film I saw in a theater and thoroughly enjoyed it though felt dirty after. Who woulda thunk that Wang Chung could deliver one of the best 80's soundtracks?

I caught it in the theatre with my roommate from college, and since neither of us had a car, we talked a couple of other guys from the dorm into going with us and doing the driving. They were, shall we say, a mite puritanical about it. The word "pornography" came up once or twice in the conversation afterward.

I wish there was more information on the slipcover in this review.

It's a slipcover, what do you need to know?

Just watched it, looks great although there are some brief instances of skin tones looking a bit off.

Reviews will be slowly morphing to far more about the slips and less the quality of the actual discs. This one is a throwaway for me, as they all take up shelf space.

I found it to be an elegant and glossy version of the actual jacket. It needed 40 minutes to breathe as decanting. And 20 after than was showing the wonders of the terroir quite nicely. Nutmeg, ripe raspberry, and a hint of asphalt.

Alternatively, it might make a decent smoke, provided you've rested it in your humidor at the correct level for at least a few weeks.
