Tim Burton's almost quarter-century old Sleepy Hollow is a visual treat courtesy of Paramount. Shot on what's called fillum by Emmanuel Lubezki, who was nominated by the Academy for Best Cinematography, it makes its way to 4k, looking like fillum.
And that's great!
There's a lot of night here, and the darkness, along with requisite shadow detail is beautifully handled in Dolby Vision.
I'd call this one reference quality. And a terrifically fun film to boot.
For the important part, the slipcover is nicely designed, and unusual in that the 4k strip that runs along the top is black and silver, but set against a beautiful copper background. Not certain if there's a relevance for the color to the film, but it's attractive nonetheless, and a reason not to toss the slip.
Image – 5 (Dolby Vision)
Audio – 5 (DTS-HD MA 5.1)
Pass / Fail – Pass
Plays nicely with projectors - Yes
Makes use of and works well in 4k - 7.5
Upgrade from Blu-ray - Yes
Worth your attention - 9
Slipcover rating - 3
Highly Recommended
