    Frequency tunning.

yes. the sub is tunned to about 18Hz to 20Hz. In WinISD the tunning was at around 18.5Hz, so I think WinISD is pretty accurate.

    Frequency tunning.

Allen Ross, I know the frequency according to the box and driver TS parameters. Just wanted to know the actual tunning. According to what've read, Seth_L is right. thanks

    Frequency tunning.

How do I know at what frequency my sub is tuned to? Here's what I did: I ran tests in my sub from 10Hz to 20Hz, because I think that my sub is tunned around those frequencies. From 10Hz to 13Hz, there was a decent amount of air coming out of the port (like a fan with three settings in...

    sub tunning

Is it bad to tune your sub below the driver's fs? What are the possible consequences?

    Finished sub

has anyone tried this type of crossovers? How do you think they perform? The F-MOD 900060 low pass 50Hz one would be perfect for me, but I'm not sure if it'll work fine. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-s6rsEWh...up.asp?g=82600

    Finished sub

Where can I get an external crossover? I have three subs and I want to leave two crossed at 80Hz by the receiver, and cross this one a bit lower, like at 60Hz.

    Finished sub

MikeGee, It is huge. It is about 2" taller than my towers. It sounds great, better than in the sealed enclosure. Believe it or not, it sounds a lot smoother, deeper and tighter than in the sealed enclosure. This driver was definitely built for larger enclosures, preferably ported in my...

    30" Sub for $700?

Thomas, I clearly satated From what I've read. I don't know if that was tested or not, but that's what I've read. Now if you want the links to the forums where I read it I'll post them.

    30" Sub for $700?

From what I've read, the Quatro is a pretty good driver. Even though it doesn't have as much xmax, it has very low distortion and it is very controlled (perfect for music), even more than some other 15"rs with a lot more xmax. I believe you'll be fine with the Quatros. I'm even planning to...

You can also use them for the dialog lift fuction, which in my opinion makes dialog clearer.

    I need an amp

Thanks for all your responses. First, I have a couple of questions. Where can I find the prices of the NAD 125w, Rotel 125w and Sherbourn receivers you guys mentioned. I know that the klipsch are pretty efficient, that was one of the main reasons I bought them. But you see my receiver...

    I need an amp

Well you see that's my problem. I think I can tell the difference between amps. This is what happened: Following a threat in another forum, I bought a crown xls 402 pro amp. The reviews for this amp on that threat where great, so instead of buying one of the previous mentioned exotic amps I...

    I need an amp

I was thinking of these brands. Outlaw 755 Aragon (2005) ATI Adcom (GFA-7805) Parasound I don't know if these are better than the Nads and the previewsly mentioned. Any comparisons betwee these?

    I need an amp

I need an amp I'm looking for a 3 or 5 channel amp (200w per channel.) the price range is about $1,500 ( lower might be better). I was looking at outlaw, but some here say that they are entry level (not sure what this means) and that they use cheap electronics. I've looked at many...

    Question about cone excursion.

    Does pipe resonance sounds boomy?
  17. John t.

    Question about cone excursion.

I had always been under the impression that a sealed box would reduce the cone excursion as opposed to a vented one. Is PE correct in saying that the vented enclosure is the one that reduces cone excursion? If they are correct, wouldn't a driver in a ported enclosure have less distortion...

    Ported Tumult Build

It is ok to apply two coats of contact cement. But you have to let it dry until it becomes transparent (glossy). It usually takes about 1/2 of an hour or more. Then you can put the veneer and apply pressure with a wood block. I think this might be your problem. If you put the veneer too...

    stuffing.

Thanks for putting the pic Dave. The internal volume is 2.3 ft^3. It was built according to the PE specs. The outside dimensions are 19" x 19" x 19.5". The internal dimensions are 16" x 16" x 16.5". I had to account for the volume of the braces.

    stuffing.

The aricle is not gone. It is still up and running. I can't post the link because the forum won't let me. I took a look at it but still don't know if the stuffing I put in my box is adequate. I would also post a direct link to the pics of the construction of my sub, but I can't. You can check my...

Tempest endtable (pics!) - not too safe for dial up.

Adam.Heckman, Did you stuffed the box. If you did, how much? Do you have any pics of the box showing the stuffing inside?

    stuffing.

Can anyone point to a site where I'd be able to see pics of how the stuffing looks inside a box. This to get an idea of how much stuffing is adequate for a given box. thanks.

Tempest endtable (pics!) - not too safe for dial up.

Nice job man. How does it sound? Are you going to EQ it with something like the BFD? How much does it weight? BTW, how did you place those pics in your message?

My first DIY project. The 15" Titanic MKIII. pics

That is exactly the amp i'm using and how i'm running it. I think it does pretty well in the low end. 15hz is the lowest i've gone. I haven't tried lower frequencies, but i'm pretty sure it'll do fine. It was actually more than 100dbs at 15hz because I didn't correct the value of the RS...

My first DIY project. The 15" Titanic MKIII. pics

Geoff L, The box is now finished (i'll post the pics up on the web site). It was painted in a black piano finish. I still have to polish it to make it shine. I'll leave it without a grill for now. The internal cf^³ is approx. 2.3. I used the PE recommendations. the Q according to them is...

My first DIY project. The 15" Titanic MKIII. pics

I don't know how to post pics in this forum. Check out my site to see some pics of how I built my first DIY sub. The site is still under construction, and that's not my theater on the home page. Right now the sub is in the paint shop. I'll post pics of the finished product. You can click on...
