I checked and I'm 99% sure that nothing is touching. I've taken them all out and put them in again making sure the only part that would ever touch would be the insulated wires crossing to go into the inputs (and even those don't really touch). Is there anything else I can try?
I had my STR-DE875 receiver hooked up to the DVD player via the DVD player's Line Out plugs and the receiver's DVD/LD line in plugs. This morning the comcast guy came over to install digital cable with HD. I wasn't there when he was doing this, so I don't know what he did back there. Anyway...
Awesome, that works great just by switching the one coaxial cable from the 5.1 outputs on the DVD to the one coaxial input on the stereo. Now the question is, what is the difference between the two settings on my DVD player under the heading "Dolby Digital": D-PCM and Dolby Digital? What should...
OK, I just looked at the back of my DVD player and at the back of my receiver and noticed a Digital Out (Coaxial and optical) on the DVD player as well as a corresponding coaxial input on the receiver. So assuming I try this to make it work, what kind of cable would I need to fulfill this...
Ah, ok. But DTS works fine through regular cables on DVDs, and getting the digital connections would only help on DTS CDs? If not, could a non-audiophile like myself really tell the difference between the digital connections and the regular ones? (Also keeping in mind that a lot of DVDs don't...
Hi, I recently obtained a CD containing a DTS version of an album from a friend. However, when I put it into my DVD player, all I hear from the speakers is static. I have a Sony DVP-NS400D, which supposedly can handle DTS (I've played DVDs when I have the DTS audio selected) hooked up to the...
The computer fails once it gets into windows and the fans are spinning and I don't think I damaged anything while installing because everything's unplugged now and the comp works exactly as it did before
I got a Maxtor 160GB 5400 RPM hard drive and installed it just now as a slave in Windows XP. I turned on my computer, went into the BIOS and it was able to detect it so i proceeded with the startup and as it went into windows it also detected it and did the found new hardware thing. I went into...
OK It's getting pretty late here considering that I haven't started packing yet and I'm leaving for school tomorrow, so I'm just going to return the hard drive and tell them it's defective, which may be the case following Ken's post. I just don't have the time to deal with it right now. Thank...
This is the diagram on the new drive. It says on top: "DS (SLAVE) or spare" And then down below from left to right: "DS (MASTER)" "CS Enabled" "Cap Limit" So how should I put this jumper back on? In the top left or in the middle top row? Edit - i just tried it in the middle top...
Ok Cees, I appreciate your help through this because I am totally lost. Unfortunately for me, I took out the jumper from the new HD and started up the computer and...same thing! It restarted again as soon as the startup programs were done loading. I took a look inside and noticed that the...
Before trying that, I looked at the two manuals again (the one from the computer and the one that came with the HD) and saw these two things: First the manual from the computer tells me to use the CS position(#5): But anyway, say I am going to change it to the slave position, where would...
I got a 40 GB hard drive for my HP with Windows XP. I have never installed one before so I don't really know what I'm doing. I have a 3.5" disk case with a space open (there's the original hard drive and the floppy disk drive) so I took the case out and put in the new hard drive. I didn't do...
For anyone who wants to give Phish a chance, check out this page I compliled with three great versions of three great songs (The first two are fairly standard versions, but with good jams, the last one is one that came out of nowhere and surprised everyone). Click here As you're listening...
As of a few days ago, certain video files started skipping while playing on my computer (WinXP, 1.2 GHz, 256 MB RAM). Divx files play fine, but WMV files look like they're alternating black frames with the actual video frame and the video is unwatchable. The audio, however, is just fine. I...
Hello, right now I'm running a 1.2 ghz Athlon computer with 128 MB RAM and Windows ME. I have a copy of Windows XP and a copy of Partition Magic 7 and I'm wondering what is the best thing you think I should do. The computer has a 60 GB hard drive, of which there are ~12 GBs left, but I can...
OK how do I go about finding which card is the sound card, and how do I take it out? I can't find it in any of the manuals that came with my computer, but I know that my sound card uses the Crystal Audio codec, so I kind of looked for that on the three cards that I saw sticking up...
I think my computer isn't recognizing the fact that i have a sound card installed right now. It was working fine, then crashed, I restarted (Windows ME) and now it doesn't see the sound card so all i get is an internal beep from the computer itself whenever a sound should be played by a program...
