    New SED Display Technology?

For what it's worth, I found this link http://www.i4u.com/article1415.html in a thread at AVSForum.com (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...postid=3688763). It says Toshiba will introduce a 50" SED in 2005. I realize that means almost nothing. They may or may not actually release the TV in...

    New SED Display Technology?

I'm holding out for this technology before I buy my first thin screen. For now, my 36" XBR450 CRT will have to hold me over. I want CRT quality in a thin screen (which is the promise of SEDs).

Pioneer PDP-5030HD... good deal with warranty?

A close friend of mine is preparing to buy a Pioneer PDP-5030HD plasma TV. The local place he is buying it from is charging him $6800 out the door (before installation). I did a quick search on Yahoo! Shopping and found that they are going for around $6000 delivered from many online...

Anything I can do about no DVI input?

I searched for "DVI" related threads and did not find the answer I seek, so here is my question: I bought a 36" Sony XBR450 about 2 years ago. I have since learned about how DVI-HDCP (or DVI-HDMI) inputs will be needed on HDTV televisions in order to watch some copy protected HD material...

Laserdisc Player - CLD-D704 or DVL-919? for STAR WARS TRILOGY ONLY

John, So was your player manufactured by Pioneer for Mitsubishi? I'd be interested in seeing some pics if you don't mind. Front, Back, Top (just to see the scratches you mentioned) and perhaps a pic of the remote. How many years have you owned it? Are you the original owner? Can you give...

Laserdisc Player - CLD-D704 or DVL-919? for STAR WARS TRILOGY ONLY

Jim, I saw Gregg's posting. Unfortunately his has been sold. I E-mailed BrentW about his to ask if it was still for sale... http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htfo...threadid=51055 No reply yet. Maybe I should just splurge and buy this one...

Laserdisc Player - CLD-D704 or DVL-919? for STAR WARS TRILOGY ONLY

Thanks Rachael, I think I'm going to pass on the $500 CLD-D704. After reading everyone's posts it does seem a little steep. Since the DVL-919 is still being manufactured I've got time to look for a better deal on another 704 (or perhaps a non-Pioneer player) on eBay. If I can't find anything...

Laserdisc Player - CLD-D704 or DVL-919? for STAR WARS TRILOGY ONLY

Thanks for the explanation Phillip! I can understand why the "side breaks" would be very distracting. I think in my case, since I've seen these movies about 50 times (each) the whole experience is more for fun than for actually becoming immersed in the movie experience... I'll probably have...

Phillip, I've never actually seen SW on LD. I've never owned a player... hehe Would you mind educating me on what "side breaks" are... Thanks, Todd.

Laserdisc Player - CLD-D704 or DVL-919? for STAR WARS TRILOGY ONLY

Phillip, I know this has probably already been discussed ad nauseam... but why do you recommend the "Faces" trilogy over the Definitive Collection? Here's a pic of the set I recently bought... http://www.geocities.com/triple7100/sw3.html Thanks, Todd.

I recently moved to Seattle, WA. I have been looking for where I can get an XBox since last Thursday. Every store I've been to is out of stock and every web site I've visited is either out of stock or is quoting a delivery date in December... Does anyone know where these things are in...

    SIR-T150 with a 4:3 36" XBR450...

I just ordered a Samsung SIR-T150 from bhphotovideo.com . I plan to connect it to my 36" Sony XBR450. I understand that HDTV is normally braodcast in a 16:9 aspect ratio... how will this be displayed on my 4:3 TV? Will I need to make any special adjustments/settings on the receiver or my...

    Comparing TV Screen Sizes (Chart)

Scott, Can't you get one in Japan (main island) or Korea or Taiwan and pay much much less in shipping than having one shipped from the U.S....? Maybe that won't work if you can't get one with English manuals and menus...? I don't know, just thinking "out loud"... hehe -T

    Picture of XBR450 inputs panel

Does anyone have a digital picture of the rear inputs of the Sony XBR450 (or the 400 if the inputs are identical to the 450). I am expecting to receive my new 36" XBR450 any day now and I would like to be ready to quickly connect the various cables when the movers bring it in (but before they...

Okay, I know this has probably been asked many times before, but after doing a search, I couldn't find the information I need... What are the length limitations when running RG6 cable? More specifically, I am trying to "mirror" DirecTV in my bedroom from the receiver in my living room. I...

    Why I Dished DirecTV

Randy, I liked your post! Very nice summary of your experience. I seriously considered DISH Network. In fact, I even signed up for the service HOPING that I had a clear "enough" line of sight to the satellite... Unfortunately, when the guy came out to do the installation he did his LOS...

Where to get the best price on a 36" XBR450.

Robert, They do carry most Sony A/V products. I rarely see these items posted on their web site but they've had exactly what I wanted the two times I've called them on the phone to order a Sony item (Once I got a Sony 300-disc CD-changer and then more recently, the XBR450). I spoke with...

HDTV for XBR450 in Lynnwood, WA

I just ordered a 36" XBR450. I currently watch DirecTV on a Sony SAT-T60 DirecTV+TiVo unit (no CATV & no antenna). I was thinking HDTV might be a good way to get UPN and WB with a good picture (as opposed to CATV fuzz) I have a few HDTV questions... 1) Are all HDTV broadcasts in 16:9 format...

32", 36", or 40" XBR for my space...?

The distance from my viewing position (on sofa) to the wall where my direct view TV will be is 11 feet. Is a 36" a good size screen for a viewing distance of about 9 feet? What about the 40" XBR700? Will that be too big for my viewing distance? Thanks!
