    DualDisc Unveiled to Retailers

Thanks for the link, Phil. I didn't listen to the entire CD side, so the info on The Donnas track #11 was news to me. I decided to record track #11 the old fashoned way, and then turn it into an AAC. I also checked around and found other complaints about this CD and iTunes. It doesn't look like...

    DualDisc Unveiled to Retailers

Has anyone tried to rip the CD side of a DualDisc? My first try (using iTunes to make a 128kbps AAC) resulted in most tracks being digitally distorted; however my second try seems to have worked properly. Is the CD side copy-protected on a DualDisc?

Weird stripe down the middle of the screen on "Goodfellas" SE

In the scene (1:16:36) where Jimmie and Paulie are trying to convince Henry to go back to Karen, there's a scratch down the middle of the screen that lasts for 5 seconds. I popped in the original DVD release of the movie and saw that it was there too (I guess I was less observant back then, or...

DVD Review HTF Review: Bubba Ho-Tep - Collector's Edition (Highly Recommended!)

I was bored by the movie for the most part. I picked it up after reading the great reviews. I did, however, enjoy the Elvis angle to the picture. I'm not a fan of the King, but the switch with the impersonator was interesting, and the quest to do something meaningful with the remainder of his...

I'd like 10 CDs on one DVD!

I would love it if record companies would take the entire remastered catalog of an artist and put on a single DVD. Make it playable on DVD players and rippable on computers. Anybody else think that this is an interesting idea?

Should I hold on to "The Best of Friends"?

I meant the 4 volume set best-of Friends set. I guess I'll hold on to it. Thanks for the info - I forgot about the music video.

Should I hold on to "The Best of Friends"?

Now that the 7th season is out, I noticed that "The Best of Friends" seems to be obsolete (actually it was obsolete after the 6th season came out) for those of us who have all the season box sets. Is there anything on "TBOF" that isn't included in the 1-7 season box sets?

    Small Direct View Widescreen TVs?

I bought a new TV when I got my DVD player in 1997. I expected to replace it with a 16:9 display within a few years, but I haven't because I want a direct view TV in the 25" range. Size is the most important factor for me; I don't have space for a 27" screen, let alone a 30" screen, which seems...

Discs coming filthy, even when brand new??

I've had this problem multiple times, usually with box sets; Friends (S4), Beatles Anthology, Alias (S1). The only time I returned a set was with Friends (two of the discs were horrible), and the next set I got was even worse (on the same two discs). I got the impression that it was the digital...

    Free "24" Preview Disc!

I went to Best Buy today, and as I left an employee was handing out preview DVDs. It's a disc with the first two epidodes of the second season, as well as a coupon for a rebate if you buy the box set; $10 if you buy both box sets, $5 if you just buy one season. Nifty! I hope other studios do this.

    Cartoons you want on DVD

At the risk of getting killed, it seems that Paula and Carole are out there performing. Alas, their website only has VHS. Paula and Carole ROCK ON!!!!! Plus, I want full season sets of "Daria" on DVD.

***The Official Omnibus Consolidated IS WARNER ABANDONING SNAPPER CASES? Thread***

The best case for DVD is the jewel case - period. Everything else is less protective, as well as a waste of space.

    Too many scratched DVDs!

I guess I'm just being a crybaby. Any suggestions DVD cleaners? The Memorex Optifix Pro looks interesting.

    Too many scratched DVDs!

I have 1000+ CDs, and have returned 4 of them for defects since 1986. For the most part I don't even think about having to return a CD when buying it - they're that rock solid. DVDs are another story - I always wonder if I'll have to return a box set. I can think of 6 box sets that came with...

Raves Continue! The absolute best animated comedy series: THE FAMILY GUY - A must buy!

My two favorite scenes. 1) Peter locking himself in a (soundproof/air-proof) glass box to avoid talking to Brian, and then farting. The look on his face, the easily lip-read "OH MY GOD!" followed by his frantic clawing at the box are etched in my brain. 2) (Paraphrased) Meg : If I don't...

Opinion : Best packaging for multi-disc sets

My vote is for the slim cases that Futurama and The Family Guy came in. The discs stay put but are easy to remove. Plus you can just slip out one of the discs, instead of unfolding all four. I wish all boxed sets were like these.

DVD Thinpak and other Slim Cases

I too like the thin cases for multi-disc sets, and I agree with Sony's assessment that people would buy more DVDs if they didn't take up so much space (I sure would.) Am I alone in blaming Warner Brothers for this mess? When I saw the picture of the prototype DVD box (Batman Forever) I...

Congratulations to Fox on their TV success

One more for the Fox Praise Pile. The Simpsons on DVD are great. I love the commentary tracks. I too would like to see Family Guy and Futurama on DVD (in Region 1.) One ironic note. At the top of this page, there is an ad for the Daria "collection." which is an example of "TV on DVD done...

    Warner stinks on televideo!

I have two related complaints about Warner DVD. The first is that they foisted the dimensions of the DVD cases on us. They made it needlessly large, and now my movie collection takes up twice the space it should. If that wasn't bad enough, Warner takes up more of my shelf space by releasing...
