    Single Remote

What about any budget model programable remotes with learning ability. Something around $50 to $100. Anyone have any feedback on the RadioShack Kameleon All-for-One remote control?

    Single Remote

I have a very simple HT setup which I have installed over the last few days. Now I am getting greif from the Domestic Goddess on how to simply control it all and not have to use all the different controllers. The new receiver is a Pioneer 712 and has the ability to control other devices. The...

    Component to s-video

Chuck (and all) thanks for all the good input, I just went to the local cable/parts supplier and he made me a 10 meter RCA-RCA cable with RJ6 COAX. Total cost about US$20 so it was quite cheap. I saw the s-video to RCA converters like on your picture there but an earlier post said that...

    Component to s-video

Wife has overruled buying any more equipment :frowning: So I have to make the cable, local suppliers don't have any long pre-made cables. Also the only connectors I can find will only fit over RJ59 cable not RJ6. Will this be OK over about 10 meters? Thanks

    Cable to Sub

Hi, I set up my new HT last night and as I unpacked all the packaging realised that I had no cable to connect my sub to the receiver :frowning: As an interim measure (because i *had* to get it working last night and watch a movie) I used a composit video RCA-RCA cable (this is thicker...

    Component to s-video

Yeah but if I buy a new VCR it will work, but I still need a composit video connection to the projector if I want to plug in a PS2 or XBOX etc. So I think a composit connection from the receiver to the projector is worthwhile. Any comments on the type of cable needed to make this?

    Component to s-video

Thanks for clearing that up, guess I need at least one more cable :frowning: As the cable length is about 10 meters the cost of pre-made cables is expensive, is this the sort of cable I can make myself? If so what type of COAX should I use and is it the same for both component and...

Hooking a Turntable to my receiver???

Hook up the turntable through the phono amp to your PC sound card, capture the songs you want and burn them to CD/DVD. You can put your whole record collection onto one DVD. Or better still copy them all to the DVD and then return the turntable and phono amp to the store for a credit...

    Challenging speaker placement

Great. So I have the center mounted a foot from the ceiling and the fronts mounted at head hight either side of the screen, the rears mounted high about a foot from the ceiling and just behind the sitting position and the sub on the right hand side. Last questions I promise:) Q1. As...

    Challenging speaker placement

Many thanks. Can the centre be mounted high and point down rather than be low and point up? Also if the rears are behind should they face each other or face the screen?

    Challenging speaker placement

Can anyone comment or suggest improvements to my speaker placement? I have not installed my system other than the projector so far. It all arrives tonight! I have a tricky speaker placement. Cathedral ceilings with exposed wooden beams. The ceiling is 9' on the right speaker placement and...
