The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

  1. I'll be picking up Fargo: Season Two, The Serpent And The Rainbow and Spotlight (the best movie of 2015) this week. At some point, I'll get The Big Sleep, The Good Dinosaur and The Graduate. Thanks for the prices, Mike! 🙂

  2. I've had "The Good Dinosaur" on preorder for quite some time as I missed it in the theaters and always purchase Pixar movies by rote.  I hope I don't regret that decision based on what I just read here.In any event, as a big animation fan, I'm fairly sure that I'll find enough to enjoy to justify the purchase!

  3. Wow, Spotlight is out already?  It's still playing in theaters here!  Definitely renting that as there are other movies I want to see on "the big screen" this week.

  4. I'm running Yosemite 10.10.5 on a 2009 iMac at 1920 x 1080 resolution.I've viewed the page with the latest versions (for that operating system) of:SafariCaminoChromeFirefoxOperaand all of the browsers have some portion of the top of the two animal pictures cut off.I can adjust the viewing size (Cmd +) (Cmd -) of the page to get more or less of the full picture but the rest of the items on the page will be either very large, or very small.I can also "squeeze" the page horizontally and that affects how much of the "library" pic I see (causing it to resize before it starts cutting off the right and left edges).

  5. Thanks for your work as usual, Mike, but nothing for me this week.  I am disappointed to say that I really did not like The Good Dinosaur at all and feel no need to add it to my collection, which is a rarity for Pixar.  Spotlight, I did like, but can't see it having enough replay value to justify a purchase.

I think you will. I really liked it.

  7. Cannibal Woman in the Avocado Jungle of Death has to be one of the more interesting titles.  I really mean just the title.  There's no description of it at all on Amazon.  I suspect this one is a real stinker.

  8. This is one of the biggest single weeks of new release purchases I've had in a while.

    The Big Sleep

    Key Largo

The Good Dinosaur (a blind buy for me, too)

Spotlight (Didn't get to it in the theaters)

Mike, the formatting on the new forum software is really cutting off the heads of your kitties.  I don't like that.

So, when you say "kitties"…do you mean "doggies?!?  😀  The lone iconic cat in the disc room (Fluffy Pumpkin) seems to be front and center in that new banner.  But my beloved dogs must all have headaches!

I must've forgotten to include the full WRU "Disc Room" image in this week's version.  (I'm still getting a handle on a completely new way of posting up the info.)  I just noticed I screwed up the formatting on one of the grids too…and I'm not sure how to edit this new article format.  The last time I tried it didn't go well!

I appreciate everyone's patience as I sort this all out.

The other thing I should try is adjusting the aspect ratio of my original image to fit the new banner format better.

  9. By the way, Johnny.  I think I noticed you say in another thread that you weren't sure how to put information from outside the forum into a quote box.

In the editor, just click on the "+" sign icon (located between the film strip and camera icons).

You'll see a dropdown menu.  Click "QUOTE." and some good ol' BBCode will be inserted into the editor.  Just slip whatever text you've copied from somewhere else in between the sets of brackets.  All set.

  10. Thanks as always, Mike!

Spotlight is a definite rental at Redbox (if they stock the Blu-Ray) or Vudu (if streaming is my only HD rental option). It looks like a terrific movie, but not one that would have enough replay value to justify a purchase.

This year's "Doctor Who" Christmas Special would be a must-buy if they'd just go back to 1080i60 releases instead of the slowed down 1080p releases they've been doing.

Even the long lost Flufferdoodle aka Fluffy Pumpkin is shown from the neck ruff down.

Huh?  I don't get it.  This is what I'm seeing…and I don't have any great shakes video rez on my laptop.  It's pretty pedestrian.  Fluffy Pumpkin looks pretty intact to me:

Good Dinosaur 3D got cancelled, Good Dinosaur 2D is on the way. It's not one of Pixar's best movies, but I am a completist…

And I don't get this either.  The 3-D of the Good Dinosaur was canceled?  The Amazon link above still seems to work.

I may have missed the info but why is the WR in two separate sections?

This was addressed by the owners last week, Tony.    HERE.

  13. I'm using Win10 with MS Edge at 100% zoom setting.  The lead-in photo cuts off the bottom half of the word "Weekly" and FP from the neck ruff upwards.  I'm using a 1080P monitor via HDMI from a desktop.

EDIT I just checked in Google Chrome and it's the exact same view as in Edge.

I'm using Safari on an iMac and mine looks different.  Even in your example here the cat on the left had his head cut off.  On mine, both are cut off.  I just checked again.

  15. 😀  All right…I cannot imagine why I see the banner image differently than the rest of you.

But for the record, that is NOT a cat on the far left hand side of the image…that is my former Golden Retriever, Brooks!

I'll have to move this re-formatting of the RoundUp image up on my "to do" list!

Ooops, my apologies to Brooks.  If I'm the only one having the problem, I wouldn't move it too high up on t=the to do list.

  17. I think it's funny that Brooks' lower torso could be mistaken for a cat!

Maybe that's why I've always been drawn to the enigmatic Fluffy Pumpkin!  I always figured it had something to do with the inscrutable look on his face!  But maybe he had some dog in his lineage…

  18. It does seem to vary depending on each system. have the same view as Mike on my Android Tablet. On my system at the office, FP is visible only from the nose down.

Also, I was in Best Buy yesterday and didn't see any sales that were memorable. They had Spectre for $17.99, but I'm waiting for a lower price than that.

  19. MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENTS!

1.)  I have added this week's Best Buy prices on new releases.  The only special I can make out in connection with this week's new releases is an EXCLUSIVE LENTICULAR COVER on their Blu copies of The Good Dinosaur.

2.)  I have also adjusted the Blu price grid so that it should now work better on mobile devices.

2.)  I have created a new banner image.  It's not quite as sharp (in resolution terms)…but it works better in the banner-like space provided by the software.  And it signal;s the return of Brooks…in all his rugged charm!  Please let me know if it is not displaying well for you on your system.

As I've said, there's a bit of a learning curve for this old dog in learning the new tricks of the software.  And, again, I thank you all for your patience in waiting as I sort it all out.

  20. Good Dinosaur 3D got cancelled, Good Dinosaur 2D is on the way. It's not one of Pixar's best movies, but I am a completist…

Considering that the 3D version is now on the store shelves, I think you can print a retraction now. 🙂

  21. And I don't get this either.  The 3-D of the Good Dinosaur was canceled?  The Amazon link above still seems to work.

My bad, Mike. I meant to say MY order of the 3D version got cancelled.

Just don't mind the idiot typing at the keyboard…

they are complete visible now.  I do see it has less resolution now.  If you ever need help resizing an image, let me know.

P.S. You really didn't have to change it.  🙂

  23. Oh no.  I wanted to for my own aesthetic purposes anyway.

Or, I had considered a completely separate image and still using my RoundUp image underneath it (like I did the first couple of weeks of the new format).

    But this seems to work.

  24. I don't know what's going on this week…but the usually reliable Amazon.com is letting me down.  As I said earlier in the thread, this was a big week for me with four new releases coming to me from Amazon: Spotlight, The Good Dinosaur, The Big Sleep, Key Largo.

And they still haven't arrived.  And an Amazon rep told me last night I might not see them until Friday!

At least this means a few free months extended to my prime subscription–Amazon is always very good that way–but this is quite the delay…on titles ordered many weeks ago.

And you clearly have Prime, Mike…that's odd. My Good Dinosaur showed up on Tuesday like it should have. (I even have proof…posted a pic on Instagram the minute I got it, too!  😀 )

  26. I'm ever appreciative of this thread and service that you provide for us, Mike. One question: would it be possible to go back to the colored table scheme from the old forum? I mistakenly ordered a DVD from Amazon instead of a Blu-Ray because I got confused in the table above and clicked on the DVD table link because I thought I was on the Blu-Ray table. For dummies like me, that color difference was key! 😀

  27. Great question, Carlo.

I actually construct the grids in colored Excel tables.  Until you mentioned it, it hadn't struck me that the colors weren't transferring over.  I'll ask those-in-the-know to see if they can help me with that.

    Thanks for the input!
