Klipsch celebrates 75th anniversary Klipschorns

Klipsch has introduced a limited run of 75 pairs of the Klipschorn loudspeakers ($25,000 per pair) in celebration of the company’s 75th anniversary. According to the Indianapolis-based organization, the Klipschorn was developed in 1946 by company founder Paul W. Klipsch to enable customers “to experience the power, detail and emotion of a live performance at home”. Klipsch also states that it is the only speaker to be have been in continuous production for 75 years and is relatively unchanged since inception.

The new speaker, dubbed the AK6, includes a fully enclosed low frequency horn cabinet allowing better placement versatility, as the enclosure itself functions as a room corner for better bass delivery and imaging. Additionally, a 1-inch titanium tweeter and a 90° x 40° Tractrix horn extends output “beyond” 20kHz.

Teak veneers and lambswool grilles highlight the mid-century design aesthetic as found on other speakers in the Klipsch Heritage line. There is also a “nostalgic” 75th logo on the front of speaker with a diamond to accentuate an enamel, rhodium-plated and sterling silver logo. A further commemorative plaque is included with a laser engraved serial number, date, and signature of the craftsperson. Klipsch will also provide presumably happy customers with an engraved record-size box full of goodies: a 75th anniversary book, poster, lit logo sign, Klipsch T5 II engraved earphones, four leather coasters, a free one-year membership to the Klipsch Museum, a three-month Qobuz membership and certificate of authenticity.

Klipsch’s Heritage speakers are available from a list of certified dealers only and come with a 10-year warranty. The speakers are designed and handcrafted in the USA with grain matching using wood veneer panels from the same timber, so one of a pair is indistinguishable from the other.
