I'd say this was done for a Japanese comedy TV show, they look a little old to be a boy band. FYI, "Yatta" is like "Alright! or Yes!"
Oh come on, the Japanese invented the modern pop idol, Britney, Christina "Whorepaint" Aguleria, they're all based on the manufactured bands that have existed in Japan for years.
In fact SMAP started training to be teen sensations around age _5_
