Shackleton: is Region 1 set really in full-screen? (1 Viewer)

I bought the Region 2 DVD of Shackleton back in January, just after it had been shown on UK television. It's in a 16:9 aspect ratio, just as it was broadcast. However, it's just a single disc bare-bones release. Now I've noticed that a Special Edition box of 3 discs has been released in the US. BUT - the Amazon web site claims that it's presented in full-frame. Can anyone confirm that this is really true? I'd be willing to re-purchase this SE version, but not if it's in a compromised ratio.

The special edition 3 disc set has the movie presented in anamorphic widescreen at 1.85:1 ratio.
