I'm trying out the 5200 and I like it a great deal. Is worth an extra $110 to get the 5300? My main issues:

- is Dolby Digital EX in the 5300 much better than Marantz's proprietary 6.1 decoding?

- ditto the Circle Surround processing the 5300 vs 6.1 Stereo in the 5200

- audible differences from 24/192 DACs in the 5300 vs the 24/96 DACs in the 5200

- some relief from the well-known delay in locking on to digital signals from certain DVD players

Thanks!

How much are you getting the 5200 for?

When I looked at the 200 models I was going to go for the 6200 because I did like the circle surround.

I have read many articles on the delay for dvd players.

If I was to buy one I would almost go with the newer models hoping that they fixed all the problems with the 200 models.

I would go with the 5300 if you have the $$$.

- audible differences from 24/192 DACs in the 5300 vs the 24/96 DACs in the 5200
The difference will be small, it will not be a night and day difference. Between the 6200, with 192/24 DACs on the 2 main channels, and the 5200, I did not notice a difference.

For the prices right now, you might want to consider comparing a 6200 to the 5300.
