Flipped for him in Virginia Woolf and thought he was so wonderful pairing up with top talents like Barbra Streisand, Goldie Hawn, and the like. WIll be greatly missed. Thoughts and prayers to family and friends.

I saw so many of his movies in the 70s and 80s, and he was always so much fun to watch. Probably my favorite film of his was Who Is Killing the Great Chefs of Europe (1978), in which he starred with Jacqueline Bisset and Robert Morley. A terrific film (which is still yet to be issued on Blu-ray). He also starred with Natalie Wood in The Last Married Couple in America (1980), another fun one (which is coming to Blu-ray soon). Loved him in Just Shoot Me. His brand of smart comedy will be missed.

Worked right up until the end as a series regular on "The Goldbergs"; his final episodes won't air until next month. Apparently the cause of death was complications from heart surgery.

The only film role of his that I'm really familiar with is as the young biology professor who serves variously as audience and victim to George and Martha's evening of fun and games in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

But I really enjoyed him as Jack Gallo on "Just Shoot Me", a sitcom with a terrific cast from top to bottom.

I know a lot think of his more comedic roles, but excellent and well skilled dramatic performances as well, The Longest Day, Ship of Fools, King Rat, I mean pulling his screen credits, just some downright great films, and one of my true guilty pleasures him and Goldie in the The Dutchess and the Dirtwater Fox. Lots of smart Neil Simon comedies, as stated smart with his own brand of humor, Rest in Peace.

King Rat when it opened. I believe this was the first time I saw Segal. Unforgettable performance.
He excelled in drama as well as comedy. A great performer.

May he R.I.P. My first memory of him was in St. Valentines Massacre when I watched a matinee at my neighborhood movie theater. Those were the days, when a kid could walk with his buddies to such a movie theater and watch movies all day. Of course, westerns and war movies were big back then.

I can't testify as to the accuracy of any details, but I do know I saw THE OWL AND THE PUSSYCAT in the theater when I was just a wee tot. Much younger than I should have been. I can't remember if my Mom thought the movie was for kids based on the title or what. I'm almost certain it was the first movie I ever saw in the theater. Of course I didn't know who George Segal was, but I remember thinking, even then, "This guy is funny." The Duchess and the Dirtwater Fox was one of the first movies I ever owned on VHS when I was barely a teenager. Who knows how many times I saw that one? As long as I can remember, from my first movie until today, George Segal has been fabulous. And always will be to me.

Irvin Kershner's Loving (1970). One of the best films about marital relationships. Some critics called it a comedy. I cringed throughout, no laughter. Segal and Eva Marie Saint were extraordinary.
All the actors and the director of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? are gone. Segal won an Oscar for his role in this movie. If you haven't watched it yet, do so.

An Oscar nomination, but Walter Matthau won the award that year for The Fortune Cookie.

My kids will be saddened by this news. They know him from The Goldbergs, a favorite show of theirs. They've been going through it in recent months.

R.I.P, Mr. Segal.

Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? is a master class on acting. I mean everybody in it tears into the material (which honestly is a magnificent script) and is just mindblowingly good. I don't want to sound like an old fogey but I would hate to have to cast a remake of this picture because I don't know who could play those parts today.
