I'm right now looking for a good DVD player.
One criteria though: I want a player that will NOT suddenly "freeze" during playback if an improperly mastered DVD is being played (e.g., the layer change on Monsters, Inc. and the mastering bug at 28:02 on Disc 1 of the original pressing of the Atlantis: The Lost Empire Collector's Edition set).
Given the good reviews of the Panasonic RP82, should I get that model? Are there other brands/models that are just as good?

I can attest to sonys not freezing ...I still have a 1st generation 7000 that play anything and a megachanger (860) that is very tolerent.
My Brother in Law brought back some DVDs from vietnam that wouldnt play on his set up. Both sonys played them with few problems
