Alright, I've read several posts today by you guys that have both the Denon and the Sony (specifically the 555ES). In most cases you say the Sony smokes the Denon on CD playback. Now, what I would I like is hard cold examples referencing sections of songs. I'm really considering this unit since it seems to be heading the way of never being available again with NO replacement in sight. Can anyone who has had experiencing in doing direct comparisons of these please comment?

Thanx,
Lin

Lin, I have the 'C555ES and '370. I find that the 'C555ES has more punch and more life. Perhaps this what is meant by "pace" and "speed" in reviewerspeak. The '370 tends to sound muddy and lacking in detail, and I perceive the sound as dull and slow. Music seems to come alive on the 'C555ES by comparison. I have done extensive comparisons with Dire Straits Brothers in Arms, and there is a greater presence on every song when played through the 'C555ES. As you may know, Brothers in Arms is a great recording, and the 'C555ES projects every detail. That is one example. :)
If you can swing the $600 or so for the 'C555ES, grab one. It seems like they are on the way out, and Sony has not yet announced a replacement model. The 'C555ES is a steal at $600.
