No guarantees from me personally, but... the firmware fix should be installed in any 563a manufactured in February 04 or later... the manufacture date should be printed on the carton (as mine was).

I'd bet on 'incompetent'... it seems Pioneer (and others) awards 'authorized' service status to the low bidder -- in my case a little neighborhood repair shop with a large language barrier. And they doggedly withhold a crummy little FW fix disc... probably so some precious little code doesn't...

Yup, I think I'll wait too... not urgent... don't buy that many hi-res discs. I have to think that they've sold a lot of 563a's that need this repair, and that it would be in everybody's best interest to get as many CD-Rs as widely distributed as possible, if only to all authorized repair...
