I have stated this previously, but happily repeat it here again.
I don't personally know the status of RAINTREE for Blu-ray release.
I will tell you that I have had more than one direct conversation with George Feltenstein about the title, on behalf of the membership.
Not speaking for George...
Oh, certainly, you could expand that statement to any film they own.
I'm just talking from personal experience as I have personally inquired about their 3D library and other vendors accessing it.
Correct. Warner is not going to allow an outside vendor to restore any of their 3D films. Chances are we will never see those released on the format unless there is some kind of miracle resurgence in the format some time down the road.
I spent a good part of yesterday afternoon revisiting RAINTREE COUNTY after originally seeing it for the first time almost two-three years prior.
Overall, I really like the film. However, it's riddled with oddities that border on the ridiculous that prevents the film from being (what I feel)...
I just wanted to let you guys know...
I have no personal stake in RAINTREE COUNTY. Have seen it only once. I really liked it. Have not become as attached to it as many of you have.
That being said, I have always had a soft spot for this title due to the fact it has such a large fan base on...
I just went to set up my Tivo to record Raintree County.
Was quite upset to see that Verizon Fios only has TCM in SD. No HD channel as far as I can see.
I know I have a downloaded copy from years ago on an older Tivo in HD. However, I don't know the channel source.
Does this movie get shown...
I screwed up guys!
Had an auto-reminder set up for today to remind me to set this up on my Tivo...
...but somehow I missed the fact it aired at 7:45am and I thought it was 7:45pm.
So, guys, I am sure you will do this anyway, but keep me updated on the next showing.
Andy,
I saw the broadcast from approx. 3 years ago and I thought it looked fine.
What bothers me is if there is an enhanced/partially restored transfer that is improved from the one I already have on my Tivo, why hasn't Warner at least made it available digitally?
There's no argument that...
I take it this is the same transfer that was aired about 3-4 years ago?
I still have it sitting on my Tivo because I knew I would never own it any other way.
I think I am going to pull the next airing off my Tivo and burn it to a Blu-ray disc. That will probably be the only way we can ever...
I said this before....
After sitting through years of reading post after post about this damn movie, I finally watched it two years ago.
It is still sitting on my DVR because I didn't want to delete it.
I really liked this film. I am totally onboard with you guys in wanting to see this...
I am so happy I had the opportunity to finally see this film.
Just to let you all know, it's still sitting on my Tivo DVR after my initial viewing almost a year ago. I am not about to delete the recording.
I do understand and share your passion for an eventual release.
I haven't been paying too much attention to this thread simply because, up until this morning, I have never seen the film.
Now that I have seen it, I have become a fan. It really is "epic" in many ways. Extremely well made.
As I pointed out, the print on TCM did not look disastrous...
So, guess what I did this morning?
Went through stuff that was recorded on my Tivo.
Found Raintree County. Forgot I had recorded it at the suggestion of HTF members. I mean, it has been sitting on my Tivo for months.
So, I had a little time this morning. Actually, 3 hours worth of...
Folks,
I am following this thread....
With that in mind, would someone please remind all of us, ON THE DAY OF,
concerning the television broadcast of this film (and the network)
Thank You
I have no horse in this race.
I have never seen the film. For all I know, I may be missing one of the
greatest films I have never seen.
However, as usual, it always comes down to deciding whether there would
be enough sold copies to warrant the expense of the restoration.
I just don't...
I am happy to see that RAH followed up on this thread with the information he supplied.
I had spoken to someone at Warner last year about Raintree County. After all, I knew there
was a demand for its release and I wanted to try and find out what was going on.
I can confirm that the...
