Thank you very much....
That was an unexpected and quite enjoyable watch.
This should have been included on the DVD and Blu-ray but the overture is also missing (on the BD)...so...
Update: No new Blu-ray release for SCROOGE. What they do with the digital is anyone's guess. If they simply pull the BD master for the digital chances are the overture will be omitted.
So, you are probably wondering why this thread is resurrected from 2014.
I just received word that SCROOGE will be released on digital for the first time on 11/3
It's also not clear from Paramount, but they are touting the film's 50th Anniversary on 11/5 and there COULD be a Blu-ray re-issue...
First, I want to thank Mr. Kauffman for contributing here.
I actually came to him after reading his exceptional review.
I was really taken back as to how well-written that piece was.
I am also somewhat disappointed the overture is not included.
Who at Paramount felt that it...
Chris,
This is odd, because checking my DVD this morning,
there is indeed a PLAY WITH OVERTURE option that
takes you to a still title screen with music playing beneath it.
I wonder if Paramount did do a second pressing of this
title on DVD and omitted that option.
Okay, been in continued communication with Mr. Kauffman.
He's a great guy and has been very willing to help get to the
bottom of this question concerning the overture.
He first claimed there was no overture on the Blu-ray. I asked
him to check the DVD against it. Here is the latest...
You know, no disrespet to Jeffrey Kauffman.
I hope he's wrong about the overture.
I mean, I can't fathom it not being included. Would
it not have been part of the master the studio used
since the DVD release?
Funny. Been communicating with Jeffrey Kaufman
about his review as well.
He did an EXCEPTIONAL job with that review. Very
well written.
Jefffey just wrote back and said that there is no overture
on the Blu-ray release.
So now I am thinking. Was there one included on...

Greg,
Good point.
And you know, as much as everyone else here I would have
loved to see those small sequences (if they exist) to be put
back into the film.
But I totally understand Paramount's position on not going the
extra mile to locate and include this material...
I don't have any concrete information on the specs
of this disc but I would bet that this Blu-ray is going
to be a simple port of the DVD.
Any cut scenes from televised release will most likely
not be appearing here.
I just don't see the studio putting that much effort into...
Wow. I just stumbled into this thread days later to see
this news broken. Really...I had no idea!
Listen....
As far as I am aware, this wasn't on Paramount's list of Blu-ray
releases this year. At least it wasn't on the schedule at the
end of last year. For that matter...
I'll echo the comment that just because it was shown on HDNET
doesn't mean a release is imminent.
I have heard nothing, but that doesn't mean anything either.
