That was it! Thanks @Mark McSherry ! Why do they make this stuff so difficult? When I got the receiver I didn't have 4K, so I left that where it was. I went through every single menu in the ATV and UHD player ten times, but never even occurred to me to go into the receiver's.
So, I have the...
Oh man! The manual? Who looks at the manual? :P
The TV had that setting in the input setup where it wouldn't accept HDR until you enabled UHD Color. I have to wonder why these settings are needed to enable basic functions.
I have no recollection if I ever enabled "Enhanced" in the receiver...
Hmm. Thanks. I'll have to dig into the settings on the SR7012, but that one doesn't look familiar. I have the sources set to the highest setting they have, either 4:2:2 or 4:4:4
When I get home from work I'll swap a new cable between the receiver and TV, and if that doesn't work, I'll hook the ATV directly to the TV and see what that does. I guess we'll see.
OK, your receiver IS scaling. So, how do you know the source is outputting 4K DV, rather than 1080 that is upscale by the receiver to 4K? That’s the I/p scaler, which I have disabled. I have Video Conversion on, which enables the volume OSD.
I’m just going to try something basic, by unplugging all the hdmi cables and reconnecting them.
Some other troubleshooting, I guess. Run the video hdmi directly from the UHD player to the TV to see if it still downscales to 1080.
I even switched the video output on the UHD player from “Auto”...
OK, maybe that narrows things down a bit. The ATV doesn’t give me 4K DV as an option. Only 4K HDR, but I leave that off, with Dynamic Range set to match the original. The only video output option for DV is 1080.
UHD Color is activated on the TV. Before I did that, there was no HDR of any...
Video, and especially the latest advancements, aren't my wheelhouse, but I've been taking the steps to moving to UHD, Atmos, etc over the last several months. I just upgraded the display in my living room system to a Vizio M558-G1 (extremely happy so far. What a bargain display) and as I've...
