I agree. That was silly.
But, K-scape claims to work with studios to get their own specific encoded versions of new movies that are higher biterate than can fit on UHD disc, and so are higher visual quality.
Heres what's really gonna bake your noodle: Kaleidescape has over 400 movies in 4K -- and full bitrate IIUC -- that are not released on disc!
The downside is a full-blown system is circa $6000. Plus movies.

I do like the practical conversations of how are people managing services. Jumping in and out. Subscribing to just one or all of them. Chasing deals and new-sub deals. Apps to figure out what service to use to watch what you like. :)
Listening. Really enjoying Bill Hunt's back story and discussion on the state of the industry. I've just recently started browsing Digital Bits again on a somewhat regular basis. The recent spate of older movies getting 4K releases is interesting, and I'm kinda watching for those to wishlist.
