Shutdown clears out memory.
Sounds like tech cargo-cult behavior.
But I’ve got my own cargo-cult rituals, so whatever makes you feel like you’re effecting change to your gadgets. :)
I can't tell what they're complaining about. That it's not metal? That's a stupid complaint. Of course a lightweight, low cost, ventholder is going to be plastic.
It's been a month. What's the word on screen damage? Do the iPhones have garbage screens that are easily scratched? Or can normal people buy and use them without worry?
Dynamic range on the 12 looks better than both X and DSLR. Otherwise, I can't tell much difference that likely aren't compression artifacts and brightness or white balance.
Since buying the iPad Air, I've been leaning towards delaying my iPhone 12 <something> upgrade maybe 2021. However, it's 11:30 am and my iPhone 8+ is at 19% battery, and maybe I'll be buying a new iPhone before Christmas after all. (This morning's power drain is odd, but at three years old and...
That would be cool! I'm personally interested in indoors shots, indoors lighting, and dim lighting. :)
Basically, how much better will my cat snapshots be in the evenings with the low lighting. Currently, on an 8+ they're really meh.
Yep, I’ve got the 8+, and I’ve never loved the size. But the cameras were worth the trade.
So it should be an easy virtual compare. But a couple reviews indicate it’s actually not. The slightly larger physical side plus much larger screen of the X design, plus the significant increase in weight...
I don't know how you all have time to watch video reviews. I need words to read in between other stuff. :)
Engadget and @Sam Posten tells me I'm not buying a new iPhone for a couple weeks, wait and see if Apple has a major screen problem to fix...
I'm holding off until reviews, at least. The new iPad Air scratched the itch for what I most wanted to home-use new gadget. And seeing the first-look photos, and seeing anew how honking big the Max is...I need to see reviews about its cameras before I decide what to buy.
I hope everyone who...
Thats only a 10% improvement on an ideal Speedtest scenario. Thats likely not seen on normal web browsing. If it is, it’s 0.2 sec shaved off a 2 second page load. The big improvement you’re seeing is more likely the A14. Many web pages are complex and demanding on the cpu.
It isn’t faster WiFi, as your Speedtest results how. It’s the faster processor rendering complex websites faster. I see it on my iPad Air (A14) vs a two year old iPad (A10).
Didn’t you guys sign up for the $150, 3-year D+ plan last year? What’s the benefit of freeD+ if you’ve already got two more years locked in for super cheap?
Does the half off make the Apple Watch line $5 from normal $10/mo?
I don’t think Unlimited makes sense for me yet, but I’ve started becoming of its pricing now, as it’s moving in that direction.
Which is why I said this:
If current iPhones scratch badly and easily from touching clothing, there's something really wrong with them. I'm not sure why people would buy or why enthusiasts would recommend Apple products in 2020 to friends/family if they're this garbage?
This seems like an...
I don't want to just say it's user error. With a billion products out there, a weird six-sigma quirk can manifest and affect enough people to be heard on the internet.
I had a bunch of weird problems with my AirPods Pro. I've not seen these issues mentioned in any mainstream review. And yet...
Ok, thanks for the clarification. I have a lot of skepticism about this seemingly very infrequent occurrence being an Apple-glass problem versus user error. Putting glass devices in pockets with keychains and coins is not prudent. Metal can scratch glass. I'm very skeptical of users claiming...
I’ve got a pretty good idea how glass works.
I‘m saying, if Apple against all rationality made a design compromise that allows their screens to be severely scratched in a few days of normal use, they made a profound design error that should never have gotten past internal development...
