Trucks and SUVs are all big trucks to me :)
I might buy a smaller CUV like the Mustang, but I prefer sedans, and to date have never been a giant truck guy. I had a Grand Cherokee for a rental last week. While I enjoyed driving it, a 2024 Hybrid with many modern conveniences, I prefer smaller...
I currently have a Subaru Legacy (2016). The long term quality has been ok but not great (not as good as I expected / hoped). And Subaru are basically not doing EVs. So Subaru isn't on my short list for a next car either.
I'm looking at Ford, Audi, Huyndai, Kia, VW as my most likely options. I...
I’ve pushed out my new car and prospective EV purchase another year or two. The combo of EV’s still going through basic maturation, new models coming out, Wireless CarPlay still not standard, transition to CCA charge connector, especially the complete disaster of the $7500 EV rebate situation...
Even a $35k EV is a lot more expensive than driving what I own until the right EV is out. Tesla doesn’t suit my needs and tastes, and the $7500 credit is basically not available for any EV of interest (only for Tesla Y and giant trucks).
EVs are nascent, and new models are still to be released...
An EV would be an excellent fit for me, I think. My daily commute is 20 miles round trip. I could recharge over night over 120V garage outlet, or recharge over the weekend. I’m solar at home so some portion of my charging would be free. I don’t do car trip vacations much at at now. But if I do...
I gave some thought to getting a new car this year, but it's going to be a 2025 purchase. I need the current EVs to get some minor design updates before I'm ready to buy (particularly NACS charger connector integrated) and see if the federal credit becomes available on more models.
A year or two ago I was thinking about upgrading cars earlier than usual and getting an EV around '22 or '23. But with availability -- Cadillac Lyriq 2023 pre-orders are full before end of '22 -- and prices and interest rates, I'm waiting another year at least. And current cars aren't >quite<...
Fossil Fuels, yes (~66% as of 2015). Renewables, yes (~33%). Petroleum, no (<1%). (In the US.)

Used car market has been very hot the past two years with crazy high prices recently.
That’s probably the highest they’d offer for perfect condition of you buy a new car. But I don’t think it’s outrageous from what I’ve heard of recent car prices.
My wife could possibly have gotten $17,000...
I’d be seriously considering buying an EV this year or next, were it not for unavailability. An acquaintance bought a Huyndai Ioniq 5, and had to pay $6000 above sticker price.
As is, the EVs right now are close to what I want but not quite. They’re all missing one little feature or another...
This video is a reasonable perspective on EV driving based on a roadtrip from Chicago to mid-Florida (with a charging stop where I grew up, in Clarksville, IN).
It’s a car. Not a quick tech splurge. Not like buying a $800 smartphone every couple years. It’s a $40k to $80k or more purchase. No need to for anyone to feel bad for taking their time to be ready to make that buy.
My excuse has been simple: EVs are very expensive and lacked basic creature...
How many miles are you driving in a day? EV have 200 to 400 mile range.
You seem to be not edge case, but prime buyer. You drive a lot so EV savings on gas and maintenance will be substantial.
I generally don’t watch YouTube videos > 9 min (just not a fit for my life); much prefer written reviews that give me 60 min of content in 10 min of reading. But this looked to be a quality video, so I’mn trying to watch it over four or five days. About ⅔ through, it is quite informative, and...
An EV is on the wishlist. The Mustang Mach-E is currently top of my list. So I’ve been reading the early reviews, even though it’s just wishful thinking for now. It generally sounds like a good car, though the premium for a high-range EV is apparent still.
Thumbs up for getting a car paid off and enjoying that for a bit before the next car. :)
I'm in a 2016 Subaru Legacy. My previous car, a 2004 Honda Accord died prematurely -- broken axle in 2015. I got the axle fixed and immediately started car shopping. I'd wanted to wait another year or so...
