    Elac Debut 2.0 or Uni-Fi 2.0 bookshelf?

I set up a 5.1.4 layout with the SuperZeros and omni-mounts pointing them at my MLP. Not the most ascetic look but I wanted to listen to as many examples as I could before I concealed the wires. Just wasn't worth it. Maybe I didn't have them optimized or just the wrong speakers but the sizzle...

    Elac Debut 2.0 or Uni-Fi 2.0 bookshelf?

My MLP is too close to the wall for rear surrounds. I'm happy with it.

    Elac Debut 2.0 or Uni-Fi 2.0 bookshelf?

Extremely happy with the Uni-Fi 2.0s, along with the Elac DB52 surrounds. Just a much larger, richer presence and sound quality than the NHT SuperZeros. My room is 12' x 19' so similar volume. I'll usually go up to -5dB on movies and it's all I need. Played around with Atmos using 4 NHTs on the...

Logitech bows out of the Harmony Universal Remote market

So is the 950 the same remote as the Elite without the hub? I have a 665 but wonder if I should grab another now, and if so which one. I'm happy with the 665 so wonder if the 950/Elite would be worth the extra cost. BTW, I started with a Philips Pronto back in the early 2000s, and still have a...

    Interesting. I'll look into that.

    Elac Debut 2.0 or Uni-Fi 2.0 bookshelf?

Got it. I'm not there yet. I have a umik-1 but very early in the learning curve. I'm using Audyssey to set delays and trims and limiting correction to ~300Hz for bass management. John which mini-dsp device are you using to apply correction?

    Elac Debut 2.0 or Uni-Fi 2.0 bookshelf?

So do either of you use it for distance (delays) and trims? I realize the AVR is settings those, not Audyssey, but do you use Audyssey to determine those settings initially and then turn it off? Or leave it on and limit the correction to 200-300Hz and below?

    Home Theater upgrade Speakers

I'll just throw this out there. Your BB sales rep lost all credibility with me for stating that Elac is "muddy and shit". What an asinine statement. Watch some reviews of the Elac Debut 2.0, Debut Reference and Uni-Fi 2.0 speakers, particularly Audiophiliac, New Record Day and cheapaudioman on...

New to Home Theater - setup help

I called them and they were very accommodating, and were willing to do a phone sale and ship it to me. No telling whether they're still willing or able to do that.

New to Home Theater - setup help

Let's just say sometimes a phone call with Scott Genaw is "just like being there". Just sayin... With your room sizes and being that open, you'll likely end up wanting to go with dual subs. I'd start with one but plan on two... John's right, this is a hell of a deal on the SR7013. I almost...

New to Home Theater - setup help

Well I'm glad you have some options and time to consider them. You'll see a lot of opinions on Klipsch speakers; lot of people love them and a lot hate them. That's for you to decide based on your tastes. I do agree with John that the Elac offers a great value. As you can see from my signature...

New to Home Theater - setup help

I have to agree with @JohnRice that you may be asking a question that you've already answered with your equipment. Will it sound better than the soundbar you have? I don't think there's any doubt that it will. Will you be happy with it? Depends on your expectations. Do you have any ability to...

    Elac Debut 2.0 or Uni-Fi 2.0 bookshelf?

They're off to the side and slightly behind me now, but only a foot or so above ear level. The NHTs have a bracket mount that I had been using that put them near the ceiling but I thought they were too high based on everything I read. Take a look at my plan below and tell me whether they are too...

    Elac Debut 2.0 or Uni-Fi 2.0 bookshelf?

The price difference doesn't bother me, but like you mention the difference for surrounds didn't seem to be important. The size of either will be a significant increase over the NHTs. I sit in an arm chair that has "wings" that are 40" high so I need to keep the tweeters above that. I need to...

    Elac Debut 2.0 or Uni-Fi 2.0 bookshelf?

Well after 2+ weeks of listening to both 5.1 and 2.1 sources through the X3600H I'm still very happy with the Uni-Fi 2.0s. Now...I'm feeling the need (want?) to change out the rear surrounds from the Super Zeros to something with a little larger presence and compliment the Uni-Fi L/C/R. I'm...

    AV Receiver advice

Yes, 5.1. I don't think my room dimensions make 7.1 feasible. As it is now, I have my chair away from the wall putting my MLP about 30" from the rear wall and 9' from the display. I think it's about as good as I can get given the dimensions. Would be interested in any comments about the layout...

    AV Receiver advice

Agreed on all counts. I'm happy with the X3600H and the Elacs and not sure I need any more power (more for headroom, not loudness), but I need to get used to them. In the meantime, there's no doubt I can improve things by knowing how my room and placement of speakers is affecting my sound and...

    Elac Debut 2.0 or Uni-Fi 2.0 bookshelf?

The Elac Uni-Fi 2.0s (UB52 and UC52) arrived late in the week and after just a couple days of listening I'm quite pleased with the difference I can hear, both 2-channel and 5.1. Very happy I went this route and replaced the NHT Super Zero fronts and center. They're great speakers for what they...

    AV Receiver advice

After having the X3600H for a couple weeks, I'm quite happy with the receiver. Not a reviewer so I'll leave that to others, but it meets (actually exceeds) my needs and expectations nicely. Glad I went up the the ladder from the S750H. I just got my Elac Uni-Fi 2.0 front and center speakers...

    Elac Debut 2.0 or Uni-Fi 2.0 bookshelf?

Bad terminology (maybe curtain?), what I meant was I limited the "MultEQ Filter Frequency Range" upper limit in the editor from the default 20KHz down to 500Hz. I'm going to try 300Hz as well, but from what I read the strong suit for Audyssey is bass management and not the rest of the spectrum...

    Elac Debut 2.0 or Uni-Fi 2.0 bookshelf?

Well an interesting thing happened today as I wait for the Uni-Fi 2.0's to arrive. I've been playing around with Audyssey and Audyssey XT32 since I bought the Denon S750H in early January and then upgraded to the X3600H less than 2 weeks ago, running and rerunning it, being totally confused by...

    AV Receiver advice

Others will hopefully answer here. I'm very unlikely to buy an 8K display or do gaming so I didn't care about that. There are a few differences in the models beyond the 8K support, but they weren't important to me (HDR10+ vs. HDR10 e.g.) so I went with the X3600H and saved $300. I'm very happy...

    Elac Debut 2.0 or Uni-Fi 2.0 bookshelf?

The Debut 2.0 is pretty popular here (as well as AVS), but you're right there's not a lot of real world reports on the Uni-Fi 2.0 yet. I've read everything I can find (reviewers and users) but that only goes so far. So I ordered the Uni-Fi UB52s and UC52 and they should be here Friday. Looking...

    Elac Debut 2.0 or Uni-Fi 2.0 bookshelf?

That's the way I'm leaning. I think the three-way would be better for mids and highs, especially listening to 2-channel , and with a sub I'm not real concerned about bass. Thanks for the response.

    Elac Debut 2.0 or Uni-Fi 2.0 bookshelf?

Looking to upgrade my F/C/R bookshelf home theater speakers. Currently using NHT SuperZero with a Denon X3600H. Lots of love here for the Debut 2.0 but don't hear much about the new Uni-Fi series. Any opinions on the cost/value of the Uni-Fi's over the Debut 5 or 6 series? BTW I don't have any...

    AV Receiver advice

@JohnRice I thought I'd give an update on progress...I've placed the fronts and surrounds on stands, moved my chair away from the wall and swapped the sub and the rack positions. Gives me a better soundstage, not dramatic but definitely an improvement. The X3600H arrived today and went through...

    AV Receiver advice

I've got a pair of stands that would move the fronts from a spread of 68" to around 88", but it puts them slightly below ear level. Makes sense to do that. Here's a pic with the right front on a stand. Given the stand mounts beside the entertainment center, would you still swap the sub and...
