    Samsung 6300 Series LED

Agreed, Plasma is great but isn't Stephen asking about an LED set? I am considering a 600 Series LED too!

    Samsung LN46C630 or UN46C6400

Not to hijack your thread, but I am looking at a similar Samsung but in a 55 inch. How much of a factor is motion blur on a LCD vs LED? The 700 series features 240Hz refresh rate and the 600 series has a 120 HZ refresh, opinions?????

    Original Star Wars Trilogy Restoration

I was a big laserdisc fan and yes, the THX Ultimate Edition CAV version discs look better to me than ANY of the DVD's Mr Lucas released! Doesn't George have enough money? Talk about greed - he could realese Blu versions that would be gorgeous but he won't until he thinks he can get top buck for...

Casablanca is indeed a classic film. What was the original aspect ratio?

THX and the value of quality control

Van - very good thread and a very relevent one as well. I still vividly recall the THX room at the General Cinema on Maple Road in Amherst, NY. It used Hafler DH500 amps and was fully certified. Have not seen or heard its equal since. Eventually the cheapos at the theatre did not update to keep...

    Panasonic DMP-BD35 & DMP-BD55 Features

I figured the older film stock was not capable of the color saturation of new film stock. It would probably be a lot of work to clean up the old reels - if done properly I am sure they could look better. Look at what Lucas did to the Star Wars films once they were re-mastered, looking at them...

    Panasonic DMP-BD35 & DMP-BD55 Features

GlennH I don't doubt some of the old classics are fine films, just that the audio and image quality are so poor that I don't know if they deserve the HD transfer from old film stock.

    Panasonic DMP-BD35 & DMP-BD55 Features

Yumbo I agree on your summary. Overall a super player, also found a way to do 4X3 better as some found this annoying. But, my opinion is squewed anyways as I ONLY bought this for HI DEF, may have some limitations for other aspects. The DVD upscaling is better than I expected though.

    Panasonic DMP-BD35 & DMP-BD55 Features

Should things like Polaroid images or other low quality sources be converted to HD just because we can? Maybe next can take mono voice recordings and convert them to Super CD? If the res is crummy to start with than why transfer to HD, wouldn't DVD make more sense. Ever hear the expression you...

    Panasonic DMP-BD35 & DMP-BD55 Features

Very pleased with my BD55K, the load up times are slower than my PS3 but every Blu-Ray player out there loads up slower than the PS3. Picture quality is excellent and on par if not better than the PS3. Image and sound, especially dts Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD are clean, defined and much...

A Blu-ray player [Sony BDP-S550] that will do EVERYTHING! (Verified)

Sanjay what are the things you don't like about the Panasonic BD55K? Aside from slower loading times, seems to be a winner!

A Blu-ray player [Sony BDP-S550] that will do EVERYTHING! (Verified)

After much thought I have ordered the Panasonic BD55K as it seems to be maybe a little better in the audio department. Although about $12 more than the Sony I know for sure it will decode and output both Dolby TrueHD and dts HD Master Audio. I will give my input when I recieve it.

    120Hz and True 24p

The brain interpretation is the key. I agree with Carlo, keep it all as close to the way it was shot in the first place, that is "high fidelity". Anyone who truly loves and appreciates good sound is after hard to find vinyl. The CD is nice but the sound just is not the same and never images as...

A Blu-ray player [Sony BDP-S550] that will do EVERYTHING! (Verified)

Boss checked the manual. No options for connecting to a processor with 5.1 analog inputs, just shows how to connect to a 7.1 analog in. Anyone else considering this player that has 5.1 ins and how did you connect it??

A Blu-ray player [Sony BDP-S550] that will do EVERYTHING! (Verified)

I assume as Boss states that dts HD Master Audio is decoded then sent out the 7.1 Analog outputs as well as Dolby TrueHD? The Panny 55 definitely does this the only question is if the Sony does as well. Watched Casino on Blu-Ray last night, the movie looks awesome on Blu-Ray now need a player to...

A Blu-ray player [Sony BDP-S550] that will do EVERYTHING! (Verified)

I am ready to buy, but can anyone clarify that the S550 will internally decode and transfer to the analog outs both Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD? In another forum two individuals returned their 550's because they would not decode DTS HD signal. One guy called Sony and after much holding he was...

Why Doesn't Either the Length or the Width Fill the Screen?

My PS3 does this with some DVD trailers, then when the movie starts it fills the screen. I am using a 16X9 Sharpvision DLP Projector at 720p. Can't quite figure it out yet.

Boss how does the Dolby TrueHD sound hooked up thru the Analog in compared to Dolby Digital 5.1 thru a true coax or optical input is it really better? I am hearing that not all blu-ray players output the Dolby TrueHD digital info thru the HDMI, seems weird?
