    Question on 7.1 speaker placement

Ya, I will go ahead and give it a shot. I have a Denon AVR-3808 receiver. I've spent a lot of long, frustrating months trying to get the sound right using Audyssey, but had a lot of bass problems in there (too much bass in the back and not enough in the front). I finally just calibrated it the...

    Question on 7.1 speaker placement

Sorry if I didn't clarify myself, but I was actually looking to disconnect my sides, then connect my back surrounds to Surround A on the receiver, thus sending the 5.1 output to the back surrounds, instead of the sides.

    Question on 7.1 speaker placement

I'm basically thinking of disconnecting the sides and using the backs instead for 5.1

    Question on 7.1 speaker placement

I have a dedicated front projection media room with a 7.1 setup, and I've never been quite happy with the sound coming from the surrounds. I have two rows of recliners, with the side surrounds (Paridigm dipoles) wall-mounted on the side walls slightly in front of the back row of sets. The two...

Help with poor bass response in media room

Hello, Basically my situation is this... I have a dedicated media room approx. 16 X 21', with two rows of 4 recliners (back row on a 6" riser). I use the Audyssey calibration on my Denon AVR3808 receiver, and the back row (especially the two end seats nearest the back corners) is getting...

    Question on bass traps

Here's my situation. We just built an enclosed media room, approx. 16' X 19'. I have two rows of 4 theater recliners, with the front row about 11' from the screen and the back row about 2' from the back wall on a 6" riser. The problem is with the seats in the back row, especially in the corners...

    Subwoofer Placement Dilemma

I tried moving the sub again (now it's near the right rear corner) and it actually sounds pretty good at my main listening position (front row, middle seat), but still all the seats in the back row (which are right near the back row) are just way overblown. Next thing will be to get a splitter...

    Denon AVR-3808 Need Help!

Ok...call of the dogs. For whatever reason, after I replaced/reseated the sub cable on the back of the receiver and turned it back on, it started working again. I would still be interested to know what might've caused this to happen and if there is any permanent damage to the receiver. Seems to...

    Denon AVR-3808 Need Help!

I cannot power it on. When I try to turn it on, I hear a pop coming from all my speakers and then the receiver turns off and the standby button flashes red. All I did was remove my subwoofer cable for one of my sub jacks in the media room and replace it with the one for my other sub jack. I even...

    Subwoofer Placement Dilemma

Also, could all this be happening because of the riser for the back row of seats? The only thing I haven't tried yet is taking the sub off the floor and putting it on a table. Anybody think that might solve it?

    Subwoofer Placement Dilemma

Ok, this is about my third weekend working on this and not sure where to go from here. This is what I've tried so far... I've tried moving the sub from the left front corner to the middle of the front wall (between the center and left main speakers). I also tried running the MultiEQ calibration...

    Subwoofer Placement Dilemma

Sounds reasonable. I will try the sub more toward the center of the room between the main and the center speaker and see how things shake out there.

    Subwoofer Placement Dilemma

Kind of have a perplexing issue. I have a dedicated media room approx. 16'X18', with 8 seats (row of 4 in the front and 4 in the back on a 6' riser). I've tried placing my SVS PB-10 NSD sub in the back right corner, and also in the front left corner of the room. Problem is, after running the...

    Considering dual subs

I haven't done too much experimentation with placement yet. It's a pretty big cabinet so my options are limited but I think I will try it in the front of the room and also set the mains to "small". I also have the phase set to about the halfway point on the dial, for what that is worth. It seems...

    Considering dual subs

Audyssey set my crossover to 60hz and my front mains (Paridigm Studio 60) to large, which I am kind of questioning, although the Studio 60's supposedly extend down to 30hz. I suppose I could set them as small and see what happens but I don't see how that would improve things as long as the front...

    Considering dual subs

Also thinking that maybe it would be better to stick with a single sub and replace it with a bigger/better one, in which case, I would be interested in some sub recommendations

    Considering dual subs

I have a 16'X18' media room and currently running a SVS PB10-NSD in the back right corner. The back row of seats (on a 6" riser) gets good impact from the sub, but the front row, not so hot. I'm considering adding a Paradigm Ultracube 10 and sticking it in the front left corner of the room...

    Sony BDP-S350 Blu-ray Player

Hey I was wondering if anybody can recommend a USB external drive that will fit that recessed port on the back of the BDP-S350. I've heard that it's a pain to access and some drives won't fit.

    Panasonic DMP-BD50 ...When?

I talked to Panasonic at the end of June and they swore they were going to be out the first week of July. I've seen a couple places online that show them as either pre-order or out of stock. Has anybody heard or seen anything?

Goodfellas - Is there a top menu?

Strange thing happening on this disk. When I press the menu button on my remote, it takes me to the secondary menu, which has the options for commentary track, special features, subtitles, etc. That menu doesn't have a link to the top menu, where the chapter list and setup should be. Wierd. I...

Audio problems ... DVD player or receiver?

Thanks for the replies. I'm running an HDMI cable from the DVD player to the receiver and an HDMI cable from the receiver out to the projector. The equipment is in a closet right outside our mediia room. The front speaker array is maybe 10-12 feet from the receiver and the surrounds further...

Audio problems ... DVD player or receiver?

Hello, We just installed an Denon 3808C receiver and an LG DM798 DVD player in our media room. Whenever we make any menu selections, chapter selections or skip chapters during a movie, there is a delay of close to 5 seconds after the video starts playing before the sound comes back on. Really...
