"i hope the first films transfer/print is much improved. if it is, i won't mind double dipping as the film continues to be a guilty pleasure for me. curious about the trailer(s) for this film- i seem to recall seeing a teaser for this and the way i remembered it was shots of newspaper...
"I'm aware of Rockford Fosgate's quality plummeting when they went mass market, but have never heard that said about H/K before." It wasnt actually said anywhere officially, it was just my opinion and observation. "ooh, Polk bookshelves...I haven't had a good experience with them, both the...
I wonder Scott, because while not a god awful, terrible Stereo Surround mix, the dialogue in the current version is somtimes downright incomprehensible...I mean whisper quiet. Then, the fight sequences open up and blow you off the couch because your system is up so !@#$%^((! high!
I saw the article on DVD Answers....wow...this is what I was waiting for...but I have some concerns, friends: -First of all, this is far from complete because there is still Amityville 4: The Evil Escapes (which I own on DVD and looks and sounds great for made for TV film), Amityville 1992...
Steve, Are you SERIOUS? This is GREAT news! How did MGM get rights to II and III, though? Oh, well, yeah....II was originally Orion, right, and so was III....so that would make sense that the Lion would put out a box set trilogy.....I GOTTA go check this out now....thanks a lot man!
Ryan, As the owner of an advanced Onkyo model from yours, the TX-SR600, I have to say Onkyo is doing the best receivers right now along with Denon (just IMO) so I would say stick with the Onkyo. I dont believe that model you mentioned is 6.1 capable as mine is, but for 5.1 it should be...
Okay, I hear you guys....I'm not running a widescreen set yet, so the picture looked fine to me. Im just worried what MGM will do with this "5.1" track after the audio on the Rocky box set sucked IMO...
Rob, Did you find many faults with the current release and is that why you are anxiously awaiting the SE? I didnt seem to find many for a black and white film with a small budget; I am wondering if the 5.1 remix is going to improve the 2.0 track currently on the versions we have now. After...
My Production Manager here at work is watching and burning this film right now so it got me thinking about the Special Edition due soon; aside from the Scorcese and gang commentary, should there be an improvement in the audio and video from the version thats out now? I gotta say, I dont usually...
"However since I'm about 70% music and 30% HT, I chose the Marantz...the Onkyo's musical performance wasn't bad but there was something about it that just didn't do it for me, the Marantz sounds much warmer, richer, more expansive. Its 90wpc rating is said to be far more conservative than...
"Pat, Wow, I'm floored...never heard anyone say that about the H/Ks before, in fact I've always thought they have the most stunning looks of any receiver I've ever seen...definitely the best WAF! However I've never sat there and played with the controls so you could be right about the buttons...
Agreed; I dont know if this happened across the board with alot of people's discs, or if it happened to be a bad batch that I got, thats why I asked. I guess I will watch the widescreen side the next time Im actually "in the mood" for Rocky III....:rolleyes
Well, it wasnt for Christmas, but it was for the festival of lights....either way, here's what "Hannukah Harry" brought me (it was actually my girlfriend who bought these for me, but lets keep it on the hush-hush, okay?): SPIDER MAN 2 SUPERBIT CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM SEASONS 1 AND 2 METALLICA...
I KNOW I'll probably be the only one saying this, but, did anyone have a problem with the---oh no---pan and scan side of Rocky III? Im assuming everyone in here watched the 1:85 version, but I was wondering if anyone else got the digital pixelation glitch I did...of course, I IMMEDIATELY...
Interesting Wayne. Thank you for sharing that story. It seemed, when I was shopping for my gear in demo rooms at New York City's J&R Music World, the issue of the H/K model receivers went beyond just the volume knobs; all the buttons on the products just seemed like they werent going to last...
It's simply the first reaction I had to the H/K's when I saw them....they are most likely far from cheap once you start looking inside, but I was of the opinion that the Onkyos looked and "felt" better-built.
No, without getting into the WEIGHT of these units, I am saying that the H/K "felt" cheap on the OUTSIDE with regard to the buttons and LOOK of the build quality; thats all. It was just my OPINION of the unit; doesnt mean I am necessarily right or wrong. I preferred the look and feel of the...
"You didn’t mention what kind of speakers you have, or how much power your receiver has, but if your speakers are inefficient it will require more amplifier power and higher volume levels to run them." Sorry; the speakers are Polks, all around, larger bookshelves on stands for the mains, a...
When I was shopping for my surround gear --- and this is just from surface observation --- at J&R Music World in downtown New York City, I observed all the demo receivers in their demo rooms, and the Harmon Kardons seemed....I dont know....just somehow "cheaper" than the rest...some of the...
I say keep the Onkyo; I have the TX-SR600 and although SOMETIMES I speak of its power delivery issues, the unit is beautiful and beautifully built....the all-aluminum black faceplate, un-cluttered button layout, the FEEL of the controls....Onkyo, in my opinion, is making the best home theater...
Wayne, Thanks very much for your link; I read your reply in that link and I am considering now running my EQ just between my CD changer and the receiver so I can at least EQ music playback....so, essentially, if you can make this easier for me....is it worth or possible to EQ Dolby Digital...
Hey Fellas, Another question I have which I was trying to get answered in a separate thread, but maybe it would apply here better....do any of you think adding an EQ is necessary or recommended for "punching up" the sound in a 5.1 system? Is there a way, aside from getting separates, to run...
