I bought this new in 2008. Works perfectly and has been barely used due to an ongoing remodel. Original box, remote, manual, calibration mic, and all packaging. $500.00 plus shipping from 35180.
Price is firm at 350 for the speakers and stands. That's about half of what a new pair of speakers and stands will cost you. I do not have the original packaging due to the wife throwing them away during a move, but I will double box and package them more than securely on my end with my time and...
1 pair Ascend Acoustics CBM-170...$175.00 plus shipping. **sale pending** 1 pair Ascend Acoustics CMT-340 plus stands...$350.00 plus shipping. 1 Ascend Acoustics CMT-340C center speaker...$150.00 plus shipping. **sale pending** These are the "classic" models, not the "SE". 3 Outlaw Audio...
To the OP, I'd go with the 340C, 170's for l and r, and 200's for surrounds if budget constraints prevent you keeping the 170's for surrounds if you get the 340C. The 340 center is worth the extra cost. By the way, I sent you a PM. I live just north of Birmingham and would be willing to give you...
Craig's right. The 340 will give you greater output and is better if you like it loud or have a large room. It's also great for the kind of people who want the biggest and best a company offers. I use 340's for my front 3 and 170's for surrounds and love them. For a small room, though, I'd go...
I'll probably get flamed for this from some, but I'd say the sound will change absolutely none to ever so slightly. That salesman is really making things hard on himself. Think about it....half of the folks who audition will love the way they sound and not want it to change a bit. The other half...
I have Ascend Acoustics CMT-340's for the front three and Ascend Acoustics CBM-170's for surrounds. My sub is an HSU VTF-3MkII. My Yamaha is used to drive the surrounds and for processing. I have Outlaw M-200 Monoblocks driving the front 3.
Microwave range, huh? I guess if you play them loud enough and stand in front of them, it actually cooks your liver. This has just made drinking obsolete.
I've not compared them to the Studio series, but I have compared them to the Monitor series. IMO, the Ascends sound better through the midrange and highs and only give up anything in bass extension. This really isn't a problem since most everyone, myself included, has a sub these days. I got my...
Damn, I'm catching lots of grief about the Eagles. Forget em', then. And yes, it's acts that'll never be seen again. (You'd think everyone would catch on after the first couple of posts, but hey....what do I know?) :D
What are the best concerts you've seen that, for one reason or another, will probably never be seen again? Here's mine: 1. Pink Floyd (No R. Waters, but...) 2. Grateful Dead 3. Jane's Addiction 4. Nirvana 5. Eagles Edited to add Fleetwood Mac last year (no Christine, bah) and Pearl Jam in...
Edwin's right. You run a greater risk of damaging the speaker by overdriving the amp (clipping) than you do from running too much power into a speaker.
I can only speak for what I own. My system consists of Ascend Acoustics speakers and an HSU sub. The mains are CMT-340's, the center is a CMT-340C, and the surrounds are CBM-170's. The sub is an HSU VTF-3MkII. After shopping around and listening to Athena's, JBL Northridge, and the Paradigm...
Chris, go to the "Cult Of The Infinitely Baffled" message board and look around. I don't have an IB sub and don't claim to know a fraction of what those guys do, but it's my understanding that IB subs aren't primarily for insane SPL's (although they can play quite loud with the right setup). The...
Wonderful system, Mark. I've always wanted to try full range mains for playing music, but don't have the budget. If some money ever falls in my lap, I'd strongly consider those NHT's. If you don't mind me asking, what did you have before and what do the T6's give you that a sat/sub system doesn't?
If using them primarily for HT, then the AV3's or even the AV2's with a good subwoofer should be more than sufficient. The sub handles all the low stuff, so the mains, center, and surrounds don't need to handle the "oomph" and can be crossed over to the sub at some frequency between 60 and 80Hz...
