    The $1000 Budget Challenge!

I definitely have my heart set on a 7.1 setup, however after checking out some of the suggestions here I think what I'll probably do is buy 5.1 speakers with a 7.1 receiver so I can add on later. The Rocket ELT's are VERY tempting, but I wonder how they would sound with a Dayton sub instead...

    The $1000 Budget Challenge!

Thanks for the suggestions, keep them coming! I've been checking out other forums looking for ideas, I was kind of thinking about a setup like this (2) Ed Frias DIY speakers ~$220 (if i build my own cabinets) (4) RCA LX550 ~$240 (guy on the forums says he can get them for me, but hasnt...

    The $1000 Budget Challenge!

I challenge you all to help me come up with the absolute best possible 7.1 speaker setup including a receiver, that can be had for around $1000. This will be the first true home theater setup I've ever even listened to, let alone owned, so please impress me even though it is a relatively low...

    Great budget speaker deal.

So i guess the $40 is for each speaker? I was assuming they were sold in pairs (who buys a single speaker?) But I need a total of 6 speakers.

    Great budget speaker deal.

I checked my local stores and none of them had any... if anyone can still find these for $40 I'll buy 3 sets for $60 each if you wanna send them to me ;)

PC Gaming on an L500u? Many questions.

So even if I was displaying a 4:3 dvd I wouldn't be able to move the projector back a few feet until it fills the whole 4:3 screen? I've checked out a few different DIY screens before making the choice to get a pulldown. I have yet to see one that is portable/collapsible. I don't have the...

PC Gaming on an L500u? Many questions.

Well damn I must have misread the article at Projectorcentral than. I may have to reconsider my choice now. Although none of the sites I have looked at are selling 16:9 pulldown screen around 100-120", I guess I'll have to look harder. However if they're significantly more expensive I'll still...

PC Gaming on an L500u? Many questions.

Thanks for the response Chris, it was very helpful :) It would be great to get a big computer monitor for playing games but unfortunately the price on CRT monitor goes up exponentially after 21". I wouldn't even be able to get a monitor half the size I want for twice what I would pay for the...

PC Gaming on an L500u? Many questions.

In response to Steve: That really has nothing to do with what I asked, but I'll explain anyway. Even if I did get a 16:9 screen I would still have bars at the top and bottom with 90% of widescreen content, so its not going to bother me that those bars are a little bit bigger. It could really...

PC Gaming on an L500u? Many questions.

I'm considering purchasing the PT-L500u as my first projector along with a relatively cheap 100-120" 4:3 pulldown screen to be hooked up to my gaming/HTPC. While widescreen movies are a main buying point of the projector, I'm very intrigued by the possibility of playing the latest 3d first...
