Are you sure the commentary is definitely not on the Anchor Bay edition. I have the old anchor bay region 2 edition (one disc). There is no mention of the commentary anywhere on the packaging but is on there! If you have a multi region player you can pick it up for less than a fiver
Would love to see the deleted scenes talked about above, but get the feeling we will just end up with the stuff off the old vhs / ld. I still have a soft stop for this and part 3 so will probably double dip. Awful cover art though (and also yet another ridiculous special edition name - the...
Got a bit carried away in the post xmas sales: Casino SE Sunset Boulevard Airplane V - the original mini series Dominion Catch me if you can Scanners The Brood Mr & Mrs Smith Devils Rejects: Special Edition Inside Deep Throat Twilight Zone : Ulitimate Edition Season One Starship...
I was just thinking that Warner may be tempted to piece together a full version of the Donner cut for piracy reasons. Surely if they present the deleted scenes as supplements the internet would be flooded with 'fan reconstructions' within a few days?
Just up on the BBFC website: Widescreen, DVD audio commentary featuring director David Fincher, actor Michael Douglas and members of the crew Not sure how this corresponds with the criterion commentary.
Just watched the Halloween 2 disc. The timing on the back of the case is wrong, so it is actually the short version. The transfers a little soft. The commentary has a few interesting bits and pieces and is fun in places, but nothing to write home about. Considering the participants are...
I have the region 2 version of Halloween 2 , but must confess to not having watched it yet. It is in widescreen and comes with a commentary track by Kim Newman. The running time is 115 minutes (about 2 hours accounting for pal speedup), which I seem to recall being longer than my old vhs...
At Disneyworld / Universal they have plenty of 3D attractions which just use clear(ish) glasses. The effect seemed to be pretty good. Is there any reason this 3D format is not used for home viewing?
It looks like the region 2 release is the first and fourth discs of the boxset. With 2 & 3 already out as special editions in the UK i'm guessing we wont see the boxset. I think the discs of 2 & 3 in the UK were not by MGM so you probably wont be getting the special features on those discs in...
Anyone know if New York, New York is going to be available separately? I pre-ordered Raging Bull not realising New York New York was also a special edition. oh well...
Had this ordered in the UK from playusa.com. The order tracking showed it initially being in stock and awaitng dispatch, then out of stock, and now shows the disc as being due for release on 21 September. Having previously received the canadian Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back from this site I have...
Theres more details on the HMV site now. It confirms the extra footage on Reloaded is from the game. Also the commentaries appear to be by the actors and members of the crew. No mention of the Wachowskis on there.
Spaced seasons one and two (after seeing the superb Shaun of the Dead at the weekend).
Brasseye complete series and special.
All part of the 5 for £30 deal at Virgin Megastores.
James Randii : Psychic Investigator. This was a UK tv series in the late eighties in which Randii debunked spiritualists, healers etc. Kind of a British Penn & Teller: Bullshit!, but more serious in tone. Never been repeated on any channel as far as i'm aware, but would love to see it for...
Just watched the fullscreen version of this on Filmfour in the UK. The left and right of headlines etc. were cropped off making it somewhat frustrating. I'd guessit was originally shot in a wider aspect ration because of this, but I dont have any concrete info. Also Filmfour also makes an effort...
I thought in tone this actually seemed closest to Leatherface:TCM III. It was enjoyable enough as a horror film, but I thought it seemed a bit dull and generic(especially the family, who lacked all the craziness of the original). Anyway, it's worth picking up for the commentaries and making...
The documentary on the R2 Martin is about 20 minutes long, and is in german with subtitles. Despite that it has a few interesting things to say, but its not worth picking the disc up for. Also Romero speaking in English, with a German translator speaking over the top, with english subtitles...
Can anyone confirm whether the recently released UK R2 Cabin Fever contains the 5 commentary tracks from the US version. All the reviews say it does, but the back of the case makes no mention of them. Cheers
I'm probably one of the few people who still collects laserdiscs and pick up quite a few from ebay now theyre a couple of pounds each. Nine times out of ten these days the postage comes to more than the disc.
Hi, Does anyone have a list of commentaries and supplementals Criterion have licensed out to other companies, including other regions? Some I can think of off the top of my head: Halloween Commentary (Anchor Bay 25th Anniversary edition) Monty Python & The Holy Grail Commentary...
Hi, first post for me. Laura Mulvey on Criterion's Peeping Tom is a good commentary coming from an academic/film theory angle but still with some interesting anecdotes about the making of the film. The British release of Straw Dogs (which is region 3) has an interesting commentary...
