For those of you with a Widescreen, do you watch regular TV in 16:9 or 4:3?

I use Wide Zoom on my Sony, which does a few things to stretch 4:3 to 16:9 with minimal noticable distortion. First, it stretches the sides more than the middle, so the center of the schene always looks right. Second, it stretches the screen vertically a bit so part of the picture goes off the...

    cleaning screen cover??

I've been pretty lucky with fingerprints, even with 5 kids, including a 3-year-old and 18-month old. I've defined a "zone" in front of the TV that they are not allowed to enter and they are now pretty good about staying out of it.

    cleaning screen cover??

Window cleaner is definitely not safe. Use distilled water and a microfiber cloth. If you have any stubborn stains, you might be able to get away with a mild detergent mixed in your water.

    Glare questions with RPTV

I just took the screen off on my WS550 (similar to 510) to clean the fresnel lens but I left the protective screen on because A)I have small children and B) I find glare to not be a major issue, even with the TV in a room with several windows. The TV is perfectly watchable with a lot of light...

Advice on reply from Sony Technical Support

I've got an RPTV (65WS550), play video games, and have no issues. I've also have only had it for 10 days, so I'm not going to be much help here. That said, I purchased the TV to better enjoy some of me and my family's favorite activities, which includes watching movies and TV, and playing...

    Convergence issues

As the TV warms up, the convergence may drift somewhat. You should wait until the TV has been on for an hour or so before adjusting convergence. When you first turn it on later it may be off a bit, but should be where you configured it once it gets warmed up again.

A little boy, a big TV, and glass cleaner

LOL! No, all the little ones were in bed before I busted out the screwdriver. My wife and camera were the only witnesses. Junior's not in trouble, either. He was just trying to do some big boy work. It's our fault for leaving the cleaning supply cabinet unlocked. It could have been a lot...

How much longer are CRT direct-view TVs going to be sold???

Until you can buy a 20" plasma at WalMart for $100, you're not going to see CRT's disappear. It was something like 30 years after color TV came out that black & white units became hard to find. I'd expect a similar time frame for CRT vs. newer technologies.

A little boy, a big TV, and glass cleaner

I wanted to put a link to some images of the "smile" and the disassembled TV, but the forum won't let me until I have 15 posts. You can find the photos at: www dot dovesoftware dot com/rptv Replace "dot" with a dot to check them out if you're interested.

A little boy, a big TV, and glass cleaner

I thought some of your might enjoy the saga of last night's death and rebirth of my new RPTV. It's been 6 days since the delivery of my new Sony 65WS550. The TV is sitting in the family room, I'm sitting in the living room, and I hear "Mom, Benjamin is spraying cleaner on the TV and scrubbing...
