Wow...so I read like 7 pages of that thread and my head hurts! OK, so my receiver (Yamaha HTR-5660) does not have an SRS decoder. But it seems to me like I can force it into PLII. Will that work just about as well as CSII would? ...even if I'm going optical in? When I do this right now...

And WHY does it only come through my stereo in L-R stereo? I get that sweet 5.1 surround sound from the games on CBS and sometimes from Fox, but my receiver only recognizes the ESPN HD broadcasts as stereo. Yet they advertise that they are in this "circle sound". help?

Does one sound any better than the other?? I'm thinking about getting a new DVD player that will play SACDs. When I hook up the 5.1 analog cables, is there any reason to use the optical cable as well? Seems to me that the a/d and then d/a conversion might nullify any advantage optical might...
