Thanks Mike. Hmmm..I guess I could have saved a few bucks and used up the rest of that 14 gauge electrical wire I have left. Oh well...I'm sure I'll find some other use for it. ;) Paul.
Mike. Here's a sort-of related question. I bought some 14 gauge and strung it up in the soon-to-be home theatre. I just recently got around to stripping the ends off one and noticed that the individual copper strands are much thicker than the strands in other wiring I've seen, or even the 24...
Chad. You need to have the TV's viewing mode set to full in order to take advantage of the anamorphic DVD, because the true signal on the DVD is vertically squished. Setting the TV to full will stretch it out properly. To test this, play the DVD in natural...you'll see how the image takes up...
I seem to be having the same problem with my Toshiba 57HX83. I've been told it takes about 3 months to break in a new RPT, but I don't know if that's what's affecting it. I'm re-converging it once a week or so.
Okay...so even if my TV says it's NTSC standard, it is high-def and therefore ATSC-capable. The fact that I have digital satelite doesn't matter because it gets converted to analog, and the fact that I have a much bigger screen (gone from 27 4:3 to 57 16:9) just demonstrates how crappy the...
??? Really? I thought Digital TV was the way the manufacturers are going (Hitachi even calls their TV's digital TV's...although mine is a Toshiba). Does this have something to do with what I've read that there isn't a standard for digital broadcasting yet. If so, is HDTV (ie. 1080i) the only...
Thanks Colin. I agree that TheatreWide 1 is the best for watching TV, but I seem to still get a not-so-clear image with 4:3 viewing (I use it as a test). I don't suppose Bell has to be informed that we have digital TV's? (or would that only be for High Def. signals...). I'll keep trying to...
I'm confused about digital signals...I have satellite TV, which Bell ExpressVue claims is 100% digital. However, before I bought my new TV, I didn't have a digital TV. From what I've learned, digital TV is ATSC and regular TV is NTSC...how could I get digital signal on a non-digital TV? And now...
Colin (unrelated question here). How does regular TV look on your Toshiba? I have a new Toshiba 57HX83, and I'm disappointed at the TV quality (kinda fuzy and a bit stretched) with Bell ExpressVue. The other threads I read seem to indicate it should be crystal clear (especially in 4:3). Just...
I guess I was a little confused about the self-calibration..the threads I've read on ISF calibration seem to indicate the set is opened up (to adjust the guns?). I've tinkered a lot with the settings, got the convergence fixed up (which did make a difference). I'm comparing my set in 4:3 to a...
I just recently took possession of my new Toshiba 57HX83, which I'm told is Toshiba's top of the line model. I love the TV, looks really good with DVD, but Satellite (and VHS...please don't laugh:b)looks, well, to be honest, like it's been stretched, even in 4:3 mode. It reminds of when you...
